Electrical Design Engineer
Reporting to the Lead Engineer within our Services Department, you will design, develop and support commissioning and testing of electrical, electronic and control systems for SMD’s range in Services
About the role
The Role – What will I be doing?
Reporting to the Lead Engineer within our Services Department, you will design, develop and support commissioning and testing of electrical, electronic and control systems for SMD’s range in Services.
You will provide support for existing systems and liaise with suppliers as and when required. Participate in layout design including electrical power distribution systems.
Check design drawings and create, approve, release bills of materials. Aid with machine risk assessment and safe design approaches. This will include supporting with FMEA/FMECA analysis when required.
You will create and approve Factory Acceptance Testing documentation and liaise with Mechanical/Hydraulic Engineers to ensure correct interfacing between different aspects of machines.
Work with the Procurement team to provide guidance and deal with quality issues as required.
There may be a requirement to travel with this role including overseas and offshore.
What skills and qualifications do I need?
For this position we are looking for someone with either a degree in electrical/electronic engineer or HND. You will need experience of electrical design with basic AutoCAD and Inventor skills.
Practical knowledge and experience are essential for this role.
We are looking for a strong team player who is customer focused with excellent attention to detail and flexibility to multi-task and prioritise. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated who enjoys the technical aspects of engineering and is always looking for continuous improvement with a willingness to learn.
Experience within subsea engineering would be beneficial but not essential.
