Who We Are Looking For:
Our Generator Service Managers are responsible to ensure the efficient, safe and effective delivery of equipment to our customers. Through a team of engineers, the assets are maintained and serviced as required and to manage all aspects of a depot productivity and delivery of SHEQ standards.
Whilst this role is predominantly office based, you will also need to be able to work in the yard ensuring the kit is ready for our customers and occasionally may need to attend customer breakdowns.
About the role
Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to and promote SHEQ group standards, including promoting safety observations maintain, repair, service company assets in line with group standards
Manage a team of engineers to achieve optimum productivity, ensure they are competent, capable and trained accordingly and to develop them for future progression
Ensure all transactional elements of the role are managed effectively, such as breakdowns, upload jobs to engineer tablets and determine chargeable items
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
Ensure service schedule is in line with business KPI’s
Maintain and update all engineering training and personal development plan skills matrix
Conduct regular welfare checks per month
Conduct toolbox talks with the engineers monthly, or as and when required for updates on matters such as H&S, yard/depot change in operating procedures etc
Ensure depot and engineering standards are consistently adhered to
Essential Criteria:
Skills and experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines relevant to the scope of equipment involved in the role.
Adequate skills for performing competent maintenance routines, whether in field service or depot-based roles.
In-depth skills for competent fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair, and testing of the defined equipment type, for repair roles.
Experience in working with generator engines is essential; applications without this experience will not be considered.
Be able to fault find and try to diagnose faults over the phone before sending to an engineer.
Criteria:
Hold a C and G, NVQ, or other recognized professional or vocational qualifications in the relevant technical discipline. (Desired)
In-depth experience in multiple technical disciplines, such as mechanical and electrical. (Essential)
Hands-on experience in service, maintenance, installation, and repair of diesel-driven generators.(Essential)

What you will need
Required criteria
- Generally, skills and experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines which are relevant to the scope of equipment types involved in the role
- For servicing and maintenance roles, (whether field service or depot based) skills must be adequate to reliably perform or quickly develop reliable performance of competent maintenance routines.
- For repair role skills must be in depth, sufficient for competent fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair and testing of the defined equipment type.
- Experience in working with generator engines is an essential criteria and applications without the above essentials will not be considered
- Have in-depth experience of a multiple technical disciplines, e.g. both mechanical and electrical.
- Hands-on experience of service, maintenance, installation and repair of diesel driven generators.
