Cahernane House Hotel is, we believe, Killarney’s best kept secret. With 48 unique bedrooms and suites and a fascinating historical past our team thrive on treating our guests to an exceptional 4* hospitality experience. This hotel is one of a kind, set in beautiful grounds adjacent to Killarney Park and only a twenty minute walk from Killarney town.

The Team

The Cahernane team is a group of 45 people who work together to deliver a unique, warm and hospitable experience for all our guests. From accommodation to the kitchen, reception to the restaurant, we all pull together as one team to achieve our goal to delight everyone who crosses the threshold of our hotel. The Role

If you would like to progress within your career, this may be the exciting opportunity you’ve been searching for. You must demonstrate a passion for food, and have a good level of experience preparing high end restaurant food of 4 star standard or above. Reporting to the Head Chef our Sous Chef will be responsible for day to day operations of the kitchen and get the opportunity to contribute to a kitchen team with high standards. Candidates must also be eligible to work in Ireland and have fluent english.

This is a full time role and candidates must be eligible to work in Ireland -unfortunatley, we cannot offer accommodation with this role.

About the role

What’s involved in the role:

  • Managing the day to day running of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.

  • To fully implement HACCP in the kitchen & General cost and quality control for both incoming and outgoing goods.

  • Responsible for the purchase of all goods, ensuring that they meet the required standards.

  • To ensure that goods are stored at the correct conditions & To ensure that stock rotation is carried out correctly and documented on a daily basis and taken accurately.

  • To ensure the proper training on all kitchen equipment and catering procedures to kitchen staff and kitchen porters

  • To ensure that stock levels are accurate at the end of every month

  • To ensure that food served from the kitchen is of the required standard highlighted in the menu specification 

  • To prepare weekly rosters in the absence of the head chef and ensuring that all overtime is recorded and accurate.
