Job Description for Grounds & Maintenance Person
Job Title: Grounds & Maintenance Person
Reports to: Grounds & Maintenance Manager
Role: As part of a team, to assist in maintaining the park to a five star standard.
Main tasks:
1. Plant, prune, cultivate and maintain the horticulture of the park both indoor and outdoor, its rockeries, water features and woodland areas, where applicable
2. Ensure the repair and maintenance of all caravans, lodges and all other company buildings, to implement any remedial repair work where authorised to do so, reporting any defects requiring outside contracts to your manager
3. Ensure maintenance of all vehicles within your area of control
4. Ensure grass cutting, strimming, edging, turfing to include, where applicable, golf course, bowling green and other areas to a five star standard
5. Ensure gardens are weeded, sprayed, watered and properly slated or barked
6. Ensure all park grounds, bins, bin bays and public areas are free from litter and loose debris
7. Ensure planting, pruning and maintenance of all plants, hedges, shrubs and trees to seasonal schedules
8. Ensure all roadsides, car parks and public areas are swept and blown clean at all times
9. Ensure and check that all plant and equipment maintenance schedules are complete, to implement any remedial repair work to plant and equipment by competent mechanics to bring that equipment back into operation
10. Ensure that all watering systems are operational and that hanging baskets, hayracks and summer bedding are watered regularly
11. Ensure all sewers, soakaways, pumping systems and drains are free from debris and blockage, and are fully operational
12. Ensure all fencing, trellis work, walls and signage are maintained and repaired, where necessary
13. Ensure all fireboxes and fire appliances are checked and maintained, in accordance with standard operating procedures
14. Ensure planted bases are prepared prior to siting, where applicable
15. Ensure that all workshops, canteens and compounds are in a clean and orderly state
16. Driving of tractors and other maintenance vehicles, where qualified, and when required to do so
17. Ensure all fireboxes and fire appliances including fire call points and alarms are checked and maintained, in accordance with standard operating procedures
18. Monitor and record water and gas meter readings regularly in compliance with standard operating procedures
19. Undergo/deliver training as required
20. Ensure that all roads and car parks are repaired and line painted
21. Deal with all customer enquiries appertaining to grounds and maintenance
22. Always behave in a polite and courteous manner so as to be an ambassador for the company
23. Personal appearance at all times to be in accordance with company standards
24. To have an understanding and awareness of all products and facilities offered by the company
25. To be aware of and apply the provisions of the employee handbook

1. To ensure and provide maintenance support for all buildings and grounds to the highest standards, with due regard to budgetary controls
2. To ensure the maintenance of grounds, buildings, vehicles and equipment to the highest standards, and with due regard to budgetary controls
3. To ensure that you are fully conversant with and are able to apply the emergency evacuation procedure for your department
4. Ensure key holder availability in accordance with standard operating procedures
5. Identify opportunities to improve the standards of both service and presentation of the park
6. To ensure that any complaints are dealt with immediately
7. Negotiating monitoring and controlling expenditure against budgets ensuring the effective management of resources
8. To ensure the highest possible standard of customer care
9. Not to bring the company into disrepute
10. To be dressed and presented appropriately to your role at all times
11. To deal effectively with customer enquires as to products and services
12. To act at all times in accordance with company procedures and standards
13. To carry out your duties in a manner that ensures the safest environment for colleagues and guests alike
14. To assist the personnel and payroll departments by the provision of full, timely and accurate information and records
15. Ensure attendance and punctuality
