The Role

As our Complex Care Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality training to healthcare assistants and support staff who work on complex care packages.

You will ensure our staff are fully competent, compliant, and confident in delivering safe care to individuals with complex medical needs.

About You

We are looking for a confident trainer who can engage, inspire, and develop healthcare staff.

Essential:

  • Proven experience delivering healthcare or complex care training

  • Training qualification (AET, PTLLS, or equivalent)

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance and CQC standards

  • Experience delivering practical and theory-based training

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to assess competency and support staff development

Desirable:

  • Clinical background (Nurse, Paramedic, or experienced Complex Care Practitioner)

  • Experience working within complex care packages or community care

  • Experience delivering PMVA and Oliver McGowan training

About the role

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging face-to-face and practical training sessions for healthcare staff

  • Deliver mandatory and specialist complex care training

  • Ensure training aligns with CQC standards, best practice guidelines, and current legislation

  • Assess staff competency through practical assessments and observations

  • Maintain accurate training records and compliance documentation

  • Support the continuous improvement of training programmes

  • Work closely with operations and clinical teams to identify training needs

  • Ensure all staff working on complex care packages are competent and signed off safely


Mandatory Training Delivery

The successful candidate will be able to deliver training in areas such as:

  • PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence & Aggression)

  • The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Life Support / Emergency Response

  • Manual Handling (including complex handling)

  • Medication Administration

  • Infection Prevention & Control

  • Safeguarding Adults & Children

  • Health & Safety / Duty of Care


Specialist Complex Care Training

Ideally, you will also have experience or strong knowledge in delivering training related to complex clinical care, including:

  • PEG Feeding (Enteral Feeding)

  • Tracheostomy Care and Suctioning

  • Ventilation Support (Non-Invasive / Invasive)

  • Catheter Care and Urinary Management

  • Oral & Tracheal Suctioning

  • Oxygen Therapy

  • Seizure Management / Epilepsy Awareness

  • Pressure Area Care & Skin Integrity

  • Dysphagia Awareness / Safe Feeding
