Technical Services Manager

Job Purpose:
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the technical design activities of the Mod Hire Division. This individual will lead a team of technicians, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality technical designs for adaption and construction. The Technical Team Manager will also provide support to other departments and oversee all standards that are/or will become outputs of the technical department.
About the role
Key Responsibilities:
Provide materials scheduling support to the Office Manager/ buyer when placing all material orders with suppliers.
To support the production team with detailed technical information necessary to maximize production output – strengthen the link between the office and the production team.
Support the production team as necessary with detailed project clarification and specification ahead of production.
To provide technical support and information to the Design and Estimating Team as necessary.
To assist the General Manager in the selection /evaluation of potential stock.
To assist The Office Manager and The Production Manager with logging all factory staff absences on WINI.
Efficiently manage the workload of the Technical Team to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery. Assess and allocate projects to Technicians based on their expertise and workload capacity. Develop and maintain trackers to monitor project progress, including drawing approval status, compliance with building regulations, and key project milestones;
Coordinate and manage the technical design process, ensuring all design deliverables are met within agreed timelines and budgetary constraints;
Check and approve drawings to ensure compliance with building regulations and other guidance documents, and alignment with the design standards;
Working alongside the Planning Consultant, plan, manage and monitor the submission and progress of planning applications.
Working alongside the Approved Building Control body, providing clarifications as needed.
Generate weekly reports for the production and construction teams, highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations.
Develop and manage the Standard Details Library.
Collaborate with the Design Team to identify and implement improvements, create and update Revit families, and provide training and support on Revit best practices.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to the design and technical team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants, to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the design process, resolve drawing-related issues, address compliance concerns, and provide technical guidance as necessary.
Attend internal and external meetings to support the delivery of projects in line with budget and programme requirements;
Provide technical advice to other departments, especially the commercial team, and assist in technical solutions for various projects.
Lead internal training and development programs to educate team members on regulations and industry best practices.
To liaise directly with our clients and suppliers, as necessary and in a coordinated manner, to achieve all the above.
Essential Requirements:
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a Construction related discipline.
Proficient in MS Office software.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proven experience in managing design teams and delivering construction projects
Strong knowledge of technical design principles, RIBA Plan of Work, building regulations, and construction practices
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
Desirable Requirements
Degree or equivalent in a construction related discipline
Ability to work within Revit
Proficiency in BIM software, processes and related technologies
Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy
Commercial awareness and understanding of project budgets and financial implications;
