Yard Hand- Equestrian Centre
Castle Leslie Estate is seeking a hardworking and reliable Yard Hand to support the daily operations of our busy Equestrian Centre. This role is perfect for someone with a strong work ethic, a passion for horses, and a commitment to high standards of care and presentation.
About the role
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out daily yard cleaning duties, including mucking out, sweeping, tidying, and maintaining a clean, safe environment for horses and guests.
Support the wellbeing of our horses through basic horse care, such as feeding, grooming, turning out, and monitoring their general condition.
Assist with tacking up and preparing horses for lessons, treks, and estate activities.
Provide friendly assistance to guests, ensuring they feel welcome and well looked after during their visit.
Maintain equipment, tack rooms, and communal areas to the estate’s high standards.
Work as part of a supportive team to ensure smooth day‑to‑day yard operations.
Requirements:
BHS Stage 1 (or equivalent) is desirable, or a willingness to work towards achieving it while in the role.
Experience working around horses and confidence handling them safely.
A strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and attention to detail.
Positive attitude, good communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to undertake physical tasks in an outdoor environment.
