About the role

About the Role

This role is for Night duty for 33 hours per week.  Shifts will mainly be from 7:45pm - 8am but some half shifts may be required.

Oakridge Care home, located on the Magheraknock Road, Ballynahinch, caters for up to 65 residents requiring frail elderly care.

 

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the well-being and dignity of our residents. Working as part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care while offering guidance and leadership to Care Assistants. You will support residents with personal care, mealtimes, daily routines and meaningful activities. As a shift leader, you will delegate tasks, coordinate duties and mentor junior colleagues, ensuring consistency in delivering high standards of care. Your role also includes assisting with care plans and documentation, helping to create a safe, comfortable, and enriching environment where residents can thrive.

 

About You

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Care Assistant in a Care Home.

  • A qualification equivalent to an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care

  • NISCC registration (or able to obtain within 6 months)

  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK.

  • Medical fitness to carry out physical requirements of the role.

 

While we particularly welcome candidates with the following qualities, they are not essential:

·         NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

·         Experience leading shifts or mentoring junior staff

This role involves substantial access to vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will be offered the position subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Check through Access NI.  Regulated posts will also require a check of the adult barred list.
