HR Advisor - CIPD level or working towards

The HR Advisor will provide a comprehensive, professional, and legally compliant HR advisory service across a portfolio of nursing homes. The role has a specific focus on UKVI sponsor licence compliance, oversight of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS), and the accuracy, integrity, and audit-readiness of personnel records, alongside core employee relations responsibilities.

Employee Relations

·       Provide expert HR advice to Home Managers and senior leaders on disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance, capability, probation, and conduct matters.

·       Support and, where required, lead investigations, disciplinary hearings, grievance hearings, and appeals in line with organisational policy and Northern Ireland employment law.

·       Prepare investigation reports, outcome letters, and formal correspondence, ensuring consistency, proportionality, and legal robustness.

·       Advise on complex and high-risk matters including safeguarding concerns, allegations of abuse or neglect, misconduct, gross misconduct, bullying and harassment, and whistleblowing in a regulated care setting.

About the role

· UKVI Sponsor Licence Compliance & Overseas Workers

·       Support the organisation’s UKVI sponsor licence compliance by coordinating and administering required processes in line with Home Office sponsor duties.

·       Oversee and manage the Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) lifecycle, including:

-       Assigning and monitoring Defined and Undefined CoS

-       Ensuring roles, salaries, hours, and locations meet Skilled Worker eligibility criteria

-       Maintaining clear justification and audit trails for each sponsored role

·       Conduct regular compliance checks to ensure sponsored workers:

-       Are working in the role stated on their CoS

-       Are working contracted hours and at approved locations

-       Hold valid leave to remain and appropriate right to work

·       Monitor visa expiry dates and immigration status, proactively managing extensions, variations, and follow-up actions.

·       Ensure mandatory Home Office reporting is completed within required timescales, including:

-      Non-attendance, absence without permission, or contract changes

-      Changes to job role, salary, work location, or employment status

-      Early termination of employment

·       Support and prepare the organisation for UKVI audits and compliance visits, including:

-       Internal compliance reviews and mock audits

-       Ensuring documentation is complete, accessible, and inspection-ready

·       Provide guidance to managers on sponsorship restrictions, working conditions, supplementary employment rules, and compliance risks.

·       Act as a point of contact for overseas workers on HR-related matters, escalating complex immigration issues appropriately.
