Titanic Hotel Belfast opened its doors for business in September 2017. This luxury 119-bedroom hotel was created in the former headquarters of Harland & Wolff, builders of Titanic, and provides the perfect destination for anyone travelling to the Titanic Quarter on business or for pleasure. The Harland & Wolff Drawing Offices, the earliest parts of these historic buildings, date from the 1880s and, over the following 100 years, played an essential part in the design of many of the world’s most famous ocean liners, the creation of the ‘floating hotel’ and influenced the design of many of today’s cruise ships. Belfast is the birthplace of the Titanic, and this heritage hotel is a sister to our award-winning Titanic Hotel, Liverpool. The hotel has been restored and operated by Harcourt Developments, an international property development company with over 50 years of experience repairing and renovating listed heritage buildings.

Job purpose:

Under the general guidance and supervision of the Deputy General Manager, manages the procurement and delivery of conference and meetings.

About the role

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the conference and meeting room areas

  • Actively promote hotel in order to generate business with both new and existing clients

  • Ensure knowledge of local market including attractions, direct competitors & venues and is current and up to date

  • Liaise and communicate with other departments

  • Assist with the planning, development and implementation of promotional strategies and marketing

  • Supports the Deputy General Manager and Head Chef with the pricing and preparation of banquet menus, and beverages and wine lists by taking into consideration such factors as:

    • Local requirements and Market needs

    • Competition, trends, merchandising and promotion

    • Recipes and Availability of Food and Beverage products

    • Potential costs

  • Coordinates with suppliers / in house stores for special purchasing requirements relating to the Conference and Banqueting Department

  • Attends and contributes to the weekly hotel department head and food and beverage department meetings

  • Assists the Deputy General Manager with the following:

    • Inspection checklists 

    • Department reports and other reports as required 

    • Controls and analyses, on an on-going basis, the following, in an effort to ensure optimum performance:

    • Quality levels of product and service

    • Guest satisfaction

    • Merchandising and Marketing

    • Operating costs

    • Sanitation, cleanliness, and hygiene

  • Oversees the preparation, presentation and service of banquet Food and Beverage products to ensure highest quality at all times

  • Supervises the functioning of all banqueting department employees, facilities, sales and costs, to ensure maximum departmental profit is achieved.

  • Contribute to Conference and Banqueting, and Sales and Events departmental meetings 

  • Comply with the company corporate code of conduct at all times

  • To have a thorough knowledge of and adherence to the law with regard to the following company regulations:

    • Fire regulations and procedures

    • Health and safety regulations

    • First aid procedures

  • To undertake special duties or work outside the normal daily/weekly routine but within the overall scope of the position at the request of the Maintenance Manager/Deputy General Manager/General Manager.
