At Guild Care, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. As our Retail Volunteering Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the volunteers who help power our retail services — ensuring they feel welcomed, supported, valued and able to thrive.

You’ll be the central point of co-ordination for retail and retail transport volunteers, working closely with shop managers and the wider People Team to deliver an inclusive, supportive and high-quality volunteering experience.

About the role

As Retail Volunteering Coordinator you’ll support the recruitment, training and development of a diverse range of volunteers, ensuring everyone feels welcomed, valued and supported — including those with additional needs, SEN, neurodivergence or learning disabilities. There will be regular conversations around wellbeing and additional needs, advising on reasonable adjustments and inclusive practice.

You’ll act as a trusted adviser to retail managers, offering guidance on volunteer engagement, performance, attendance and conduct, and supporting the professional resolution of any challenges. Not to mention maintaining outstanding relationships with volunteers, imputing your findings accurately into the system – making sure processes are accurate, compliant while continuously improving them.

Essential for this role:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working with volunteers or in a people-centred, customer-focused environment

  • Ability to support a diverse range of volunteers, including those with additional needs, SEN, neurodivergence or learning disabilities

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills

  • Database management experience

  • A proactive, confident and collaborative approach

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Today, Guild Care supports over 3,000 people annually across West Sussex through a range of community-focused services. Remaining true to its founding values, the organisation is one of Worthing's largest employers, powered by almost 700 dedicated staff members and the essential contributions of more than 300 volunteers, all united in making a meaningful difference.
