Regional Support Manager

The Role

The Regional Support Manager is a senior clinical leadership and quality governance role, responsible for continuous improvement of standards of care, strengthening regulatory compliance across Healthcare Ireland Homes.

This role exists to protect quality, provide leadership continuity, and drive excellence. The post-holder acts as a senior clinical presence across the region, supporting Home Managers operationally to drive improvements, deliver safe, compliant, high-quality services and will be required to provide Home Manager cover during periods of absence or vacancy to ensure service stability and regulatory confidence.

Working in close partnership with the Director of Governance, Learning, Development & Compliance Manager and the Regional Nurse Training Lead, the Regional Support Manager ensures that learning, compliance, audit findings, quality improvements and clinical governance priorities are translated into real improvement at Home level.

The role is ideally suited to an experienced Registered Nurse with strong leadership capability, regulatory expertise and a passion for continuous improvement, staff development and quality assurance.

About the role

Main Responsibilities

• Act as a senior clinical governance lead across our Homes, providing visible leadership and assurance on care, quality and compliance, safety and effectiveness.
• Work in close collaboration with the Director of Governance to deliver quality improvement plans and governance priorities.
• Support Homes to prepare for and respond to inspections, audits, safeguarding activity and regulatory reviews.

• Provide stabilisation support to Homes experiencing quality, staffing or performance challenges.
• Maintain regulatory continuity, safe staffing, and quality oversight during leadership transitions.
• Support induction and onboarding of newly appointed Home Managers to ensure a smooth handover and strong governance foundations.

• Provide Home Manager cover during periods of absence, vacancy, or transition, assuming full leadership and regulatory accountability where required.

• Work in partnership with the Learning, Development & Compliance Manager and the Regional Nurse Training Lead to embed training, competency frameworks and professional development pathways.
• Support implementation of preceptorship, competency assessment and clinical development programmes.
• Promote a culture of reflective practice, learning and continuous improvement across Home Management teams.

• Lead and support service improvement projects, transformation initiatives and bespoke development programmes across our Homes.
• Build local project infrastructure and stakeholder engagement to support sustainable change.
• Ensure improvement activity is evidence-based, outcomes-focused and aligned to Healthcare Ireland Group strategy.

• Maintain high-quality reporting and governance documentation as required.
• Support consistent regional performance standards and improvement benchmarking.
• Promote joint working and a consistent quality culture across Healthcare Ireland Homes.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • The Right to Work in the UK
  • A Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
  • A sound working knowledge of the statutory requirements associated with care
  • Understanding of the key business activities associated with a care home
  • Be able to demonstrate strong leadership ability in a key, demanding role
  • Strong communication skills

Desired criteria

  • A good understanding of budgets is desirable
  • 1 year experience working in a regional position
  • Experience in supporting home leadership teams in quality and personal development
