We are seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to join our family of Care Homes. As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will undertake all housekeeping tasks and duties as directed by the Housekeeper and / or nurse-in-charge and maintain a high level of cleanliness in all areas and rooms In the Home. The post holder must be physically fit, have a good work ethic and be able to work in a team and independently. All duties must be conducted in a professional manner.
About the role
Responsibilities*:
To be aware of, and comply with, all Health & Safety measures to reduce / eliminate cross infection by ensuring all cleaning is undertaken in compliance with Infection Control Guidance
To ensure that all cleaning / hygiene products are used correctly by self and others and refer to COSSH guidance at all times
To ensure that self and others wear / use safety clothing & equipment when using products and refer to all COSSH guidance at all times
To be responsible for all ‘in-house’ cleaning / laundry as directed by the Housekeeper
To work as scheduled by the Housekeeper to meet the needs of the residents & Home
To maintain the high standard of cleanliness in the Home at all times.
To respond to requests from nurses for assistance to ensure cleanliness and infection control in the Home
To promote and demonstrate dignity, respect, freedom and choice for all residents in the Home.
To maintain service-user and company confidentiality at all times.
To report all Health & Safety concerns immediately to the manager and maintenance.
Whenever possible / practicable to cover colleague’s duties in times of sickness, holidays, emergencies and serious incidents.
To comply with all employee responsibilities in respect of compliance with Health & Safety at Work, COSHH, environmental health and fire procedures etc, and to always abide by the Company’s Health & Safety Policy
To use correctly as trained & instructed (not misuse) all equipment provided for Health & Safety compliance and supplied by the Company
To report promptly all complaints, however minor, to the Manager / Nurse-In-Charge
To undertake cleaning duties, replenish stocks of disposable items and laundry, and exercise cost control at all times
To ensure residents clothing and toiletries are adequate and named and ensure deficiencies are reported to the Named Nurse or his/her deputy
To take care to protect resident’s personal belongings
To attend staff and other meetings as required by the Home Manager
To be courteous and polite at all times and to develop good relations with residents, visitors and other professionals both inside and outside the Home
To abide by the Company’s Quality Procedures, Policies and Work Practices and to report any such non-conformance to the nurse-in-charge, or manager, in the correct manner
To promote the good name of the Home and the Company at all times
To understand and adhere to Caron Group’s ethos
To co-operate and maintain good working relationships with all staff
You are required to attend all training required for this position, and as directed by the Housekeeper / manager
