Culinary Partner
Purpose of the Role :
The Culinary Partner plays an essential and hands-on role in the safe preparation, cooking, presentation and delivery of meals and dining experiences for residents. This role ensures that every mealtime feels dignified, welcoming, personalised and aligned with CHG’s hospitality standards.
You support the Culinary Care Lead in delivering high-quality, safe, attractive and personcentred meals that contribute directly to the wellbeing, comfort and enjoyment of the people we care for.
Your work is central to CHG’s “Where People Matter” ethos — residents must feel valued, respected and cared for through every plate we serve.
About the role
Key Responsibilities :
1. Daily Meal Preparation & Cooking Duties
• Preparing, cooking and plating meals to CHG standards
• Supporting daily and seasonal menus
• Preparing IDDSI-compliant meals under guidance
• Ensuring correct temperatures and safe cooking processes
• Producing attractive, well-presented plates
• Supporting baking, desserts and speciality dishes
• Assisting with cultural and themed meals
You contribute directly to the consistency and quality of the dining experience.
2. Person-Centred, Safe Nutrition
• Follow all IDDSI texture requirements
• Follow SALT, clinical and dietitian guidance
• Strictly adhere to allergy and safe separation practices
• Support hydration, snacks and fortified requirements
• Observe and report appetite changes
• Promote safe, calm and dignified dining
Your work helps protect nutritional wellbeing and clinical safety.
3. Dining Experience & Hospitality Support
• Support the set-up of dining rooms to CHG hospitality standards
• Ensure table presentation is beautiful and dignified
• Support room-service meals with the same care and presentation as communal dining
• Work with Home Comforts to maintain a clean, calm and welcoming environment
• Support the ambience, including lighting, calmness and warmth
Dining must feel like an enjoyable, safe and personal experience.
4. Contribution to First Impressions & Home Presentation
• Ensure kitchen areas, serveries and dining spaces are always presentable
• Support the home in being “tour ready” at any time
• Maintain hydration stations, sample displays and professional presentation touches
• Reinforce pride in the home’s hospitality and dining experience
You contribute directly to the home’s reputation and identity.
5. Contribution to Wellbeing & Themed Events
• Support themed menus, cultural nights and celebration meals
• Assist with cinema nights, supper clubs and special events
• Contribute to dementia-friendly dining initiatives
• Support food-led wellbeing activities and tasting sessions
You help bring joy and engagement through food.

7. Cultural Food Safety & Segregation Requirements
You must follow strict cultural, faith-based and allergen-specific food safety standards at all times. This includes:
• Ensuring Halal meals are prepared, cooked and stored separately from non-Halal foods
• Using separate utensils, chopping boards, pans and preparation surfaces for Halal meals
• Avoiding cross-contamination between cultural, religious, allergen-specific, vegetarian and vegan meals
• Following correct storage, labelling and preparation guidance for culturally significant foods
• Upholding dignity and respect through accurate, safe cultural food provision
• Reporting any deviation from required standards immediately
This ensures fully compliant, respectful and culturally safe dining experiences.
8. Kitchen Hygiene, Safety & Compliance
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation
• Complete cleaning schedules and safety checks
• Follow safe equipment and chemical handling procedures
• Support 5-star hygiene standards
• Complete SFBB and kitchen checks in Nourish as directed
• Contribute to periodic deep cleans
• Support catering audits and inspection readiness
You help maintain a safe, compliant, high-quality kitchen.
9. Stock Management & Responsible Ordering Support
• Rotate stock effectively
• Monitor and report stock levels
• Support safe receipt and storage of deliveries
• Minimise waste through thoughtful preparation and portioning
• Maintain clean, organised and labelled storage systems
10. Resident Engagement & Relationship Building
• Engage with residents during dining times when required
• Collect feedback and share with the Culinary Care Lead
• Support tasting sessions and menu input activities
• Help ensure residents feel heard, valued and supported

11. Teamwork & Daily Communication
• Participate in daily huddles
• Collaborate with culinary, hospitality, clinical and operations colleagues
• Support colleagues calmly during peak service periods
• Maintain clear, respectful and solution-focused communication

12. Digital Governance Support (Nourish)
• Complete Safer Food Better Business tasks in Nourish
• Record temperatures, cleaning checks and IDDSI documentation
• Ensure digital records are accurate and timely
• Support audit and inspection readiness
