About the role:
Ventus Energy is seeking an experienced Cable Jointer to join a talented team of personnel within our Projects Division; responsible for delivering high-voltage cable installations, jointing, termination and testing and fibre optic installations across a range of HV infrastructure projects.
We welcome applications from Cable Jointers currently working within the offshore sector, as well as those with onshore experience seeking to transition, particularly those with a DNO background.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in 66kV cable jointing, though applicants with strong 33kV experience will also be considered.
This is a permanent employed role, offering a competitive salary with an additional enhanced day rate when working on site or offshore.
Projects are carried out both onshore and offshore and predominantly across the UK, Europe and Asia. Therefore, with this position, there will be requirements to go offshore and abroad for periods of time.
Location: Applicants must be UK based and able to attend our Head Office in North Shields when required.
About the role
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out HV cable jointing and termination works on 33kV and/or 66kV cable systems
Prepare, install, and joint power cables in accordance with manufacturer specifications, project requirements, and industry standards
Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high-quality standard
Conduct pre- and post-installation inspections and testing as required
Maintain accurate documentation, including job reports and quality records
Maintain high standards of HSEQ compliance at all times
Support Ventus Energy through developing and maintaining a strong relationship with clients and ensuring that the highest quality service is delivered at all times.
Support reporting processes by regularly identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring near misses, safety observations etc. are reported.
Support fault finding and repair activities where required
Development & Support
We recognise the right candidate may bring relevant experience from a different sector. On-the-job training will be provided to support the learning curve—particularly for candidates with strong HV capability who may be new to offshore wind requirements.
What you will need
Required criteria
- Proven experience as a Cable Jointer within the energy or utilities sector
- Professional Reference(s)
- Qualified Cable Jointer (To at least 33kV)
- Strong understanding of HV cable systems, jointing techniques, and materials
- Attention to detail and a solution orientated approach
- Able to work well with other personnel and within a team
- Valid Passport
- Full and Clean Driving Licence
Desired criteria
- Experience in the offshore engineering industry.
- Familiarity with HV installation and testing methodology in the offshore wind sector
