Hotel Maintenance Assistant
Summary
The Maintenance Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the hotel remains in excellent operating condition by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive upkeep across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities. This role supports the guest experience by maintaining a safe, clean, and fully functional environment in accordance with hotel policies, brand standards, and health and safety regulations.
About the role
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on guest rooms and public areas, including lighting, electrical fixtures, furniture, and décor.
Conduct painting, touch-ups, and minor carpentry to maintain room aesthetics.
Repair or replace basic appliances and electronics such as televisions, telephones, kettles, air conditioning units, etc.
Execute minor plumbing tasks, including fixing leaks, unclogging drain, and replacing bathroom fixtures.
Repair and maintain flooring surfaces including carpet, tile and marble as needed.
Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance throughout the property (front and back of house).
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workspace, including the hotel’s maintenance and plant areas.
Monitor maintenance supply inventory and communicate needs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Collaborate with external contractors and vendors, ensuring their compliance with hotel safety and operational standards.
Participate in safety and emergency procedures including fire drills and serve as part of the hotel’s emergency response team.
Handle master keys responsibly, ensuring guest and staff safety at all times.
The ideal candidate:
Has prior maintenance experience in a hospitality or similar environment.
Will ideally have technical training or certifications in plumbing, electrical, HVAC or general maintenance.
Basic knowledge of building systems, mechanical operations, and troubleshooting techniques.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Has prior maintenance experience in a hospitality or similar environment.
Will ideally have technical training or certifications in plumbing, electrical, HVAC or general maintenance.
