The Northern Ireland Boys’ Brigade (BBNI) works with 11,350 boys and young men in P1-Year 14 through 238 BB companies in Northern Ireland and Donegal.

About the role

The Role

Based at The Northern Ireland Boys’ Brigade Headquarters, in Culcavy, the Admin Assistant will report to the Engagement and Training Manager.

This role involves a variety of duties which will include switchboard duties, welcoming and supporting visitors, general administrative duties, preparing and assisting with the production of correspondence in line with branding guidelines, arranging committee meetings and assisting with events.

Hours of work

  • 35 hours per week distributed Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly
  • Good command of written English
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Experience of coordinating tasks, activities or small projects
  • Strong organisational skills , with the ability to prioritise a busy workload
  • Positive attitude and approach
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Sympathy with the vision, mission and values of The Northern Ireland Boys’ Brigade

Desired criteria

  • Two years administrative experience in a busy office environment
