Waiting Staff

Main Purpose of Job:To serve food and beverages and provide excellent customer service at The Gamekeeper’s Inn.

Evening and weekend working will be required.

Reporting Responsibility:Reports to the Pub Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and seat customers, present menus, and take orders.

  • Serve food and beverages, including preparing beverages.

  • Upsell where possible and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the menu.

  • Handle customer queries and complaints politely, recording issues for management if needed.

  • Maintain a clean and welcoming environment, including clearing tables and restocking supplies.

  • Operate the till system, process payments, and manage bookings.

  • Provide assistance to accommodation guests, including check-ins and check-outs.

  • Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations.

  • Assist in setting up for functions and events.

  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws and allergen regulations.

  • Carry out any additional tasks as requested by the line manager.

1. Education and Qualifications

  • Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene (will be provided).

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

2. Experience

  • Previous bar or waiting experience is desirable.

  • Experience with till operation and cash handling is desirable.

3. Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent communication skills and high personal presentation standards.

  • Ability to work under pressure and remain calm in stressful situations.

  • Friendly, organized, and efficient team player with strong initiative.

  • Observant, practical, and professional, with a flexible approach to work.
