Regional Support Manager

The Role

The role of Regional Support Manager provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and performance management across an assigned region within Healthcare Ireland Homes. While the primary focus will be on services within this designated region, the post-holder may also be required to support Homes in other areas as needed. 

As Regional Support Manager, you will work in close partnership with Home Managers and fellow Regional Support Managers to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality care, compliance with regulatory standards, and achievement of strong business performance. You will lead teams, manage operational priorities, and ensure each service meets or exceeds expected standards. 

Collaborating with the Director of Strategy, Operations Directors, and the wider Regional Management team, you will be instrumental in delivering our continuous improvement programme. You will also lead bespoke service development and transformation projects across various locations, as required. You will be responsible for delivering measurable service improvements, achieving agreed performance targets, and supporting the broader strategic goals of Healthcare Ireland.

This role is suited to a compassionate, experienced Registered Nurse with a proven track record in regional leadership, who is committed to enhancing care quality and operational effectiveness.

About the role

Main Responsibilities

  • Support with the development and delivery of service improvement plans in agreed areas, that will enable services to achieve improved outcomes in care standards for residents and their families.

  • Work with the Regional Manager to enact evidence-based, high impact changes to support budgets, agency management and recruitment. Utilising best practice in technical and behaviour change management for sustainable improvements.

  • Continue to develop improvement plans by identifying areas for change, best approach and tools needed.

  • Work with the Senior Management to ensure that improvements and projects are aligned to policy and strategic development of services.

  • Build on local and Home specific infrastructure for projects and programmes of work.

  • Review and evaluate developments and emerging thinking to ensure that projects and continuous improvement programmes reflect the current thinking and is influenced by the input of the Home team.

  • Assume 24/7 accountability and management responsibility for a Home when required as indicated by the Director of Strategy, delegate where appropriate to suitable team members.

  • Negotiate and secure local stakeholder agreement to improvement programmes and projects, building relationships to support success.  

  • Ensure joint working and a consistent approach across Healthcare Ireland Homes.

  • Contribute to the planning, policy and decision-making processes, including contributing to the development of annual quality plans and budgets.

  • Attend meetings as required to provide appropriate, high-quality information.

  • Secure engagement and negotiate issues of concern from the Senior Management Team, professional bodies, academic institutions, and suppliers to ensure successful implementation of projects and programmes.

  • Support Home Manager engagement in projects and continuous improvement, encouraging participation, learning, applying lessons and reviewing performance.

  • Work with the Regional Manager to support the professional development of Home Management teams.

  • Support with the monitoring of overall performance improvement and assist Regional Managers to develop a strategy for dealing with projects and programmes that do not make improvements in line with the agreed targets and strategies.

  • Ensure compliance against all regulatory standards, requirements and guidelines.

  • Act at all times as advocate and role model for best practice, continuous improvement and a positive working environment.

  • Work with the Senior Management and HR teams on all elements of people management, including recruitment, employee relations and team development.

  • Update and maintain regular reporting as required.

  • Keep up to date with industry innovation, best practice and changes in regulation and guidelines.

  • Fulfil any other responsibility as reasonably required by the Directors.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • The Right to Work in the UK
  • A Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
  • 1 year experience working in a regional position
  • A sound working knowledge of the statutory requirements associated with care
  • Understanding of the key business activities associated with a care home
  • Be able to demonstrate strong leadership ability in a key, demanding role
  • Strong communication skills

  • A good understanding of budgets is desirable
