About the role

THE ROLE 

The Quality Engineer II will be responsible for developing and executing front-end and back-end test suites for Frontline Insurance (parent company) core applications: Guidewire InsuranceSuite Centers and Portals web applications, and iOS and Android mobile apps. This role will also assist in the creation and execution of Quality Engineering test strategies for configuration, integration, regression, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing needs. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Execute front-end and back-end test cases and report their results. 

  • Iterate on test cases through continual collaboration with scrum team members to ensure test cases are relevant, accurate, and effective. 

  • Create reusable, and concise test cases. 

  • Constantly and consistently collaborate with all scrum team members throughout the sprint. 

  • Participate in agile ceremonies by asking questions to clarify any gaps in knowledge, requirements, or user stories to ensure the scrum team has a full and complete understanding of the sprint work. 

  • Report and document well defined bugs with all required details needed to reproduce the issue including data and the state of the underlying system and application. 

  • Own reported bugs by tracking, following up on, and closing them as they are prioritised. 

  • Create and execute configuration, integration, regression, and end-to-end test suites. 

  • Use software testing tools and resources to increase testing capabilities with API, Visual Regression, and Accessibility tests. 

  • Learn and master Guidewire InsuranceSuite application to able to effectively perform manual functional testing 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Strong organisational and task management skills. Strong relationship management and proven experience delivering high level if internal and external customer service. Computer proficiency with strong skills in Microsoft Office applications. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • 3+ years of experience in software testing, development, or related enterprise software experience  

  • Knowledge of QA processes, methodologies, and industry best practices 

  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and Scrum/Agile development 

  • Create detailed and concise test cases, bugs, and defects using Test Management software 

  • Use web browser developer tools to analyse console and network tabs 

  • Testing experience in Property and Casualty Insurance, financial, or accounting software  

  • Experience testing front-end and back-end of web and mobile applications 

  • Excellent time management skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritise successfully and adapt to quickly changing goals and priorities  

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate testing issues with clients and internal development team members  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

  • Must be a self-starter and able to perform with minimal supervision while working in a diverse team 

 

Desirable Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.  

  • Functional Guidewire Insurance Suite/Guidewire Policy Centre experience   

  • Insurance/Financial domain experience preferred but not required  

  • Experience in API testing using manual and/or automation tools
