Title: Bar Manager
Department: F&B- Coach House Bar
Level / Location: Experienced Level - onsite at The Johnstown Estate, Enfield
Reporting To: Director of F&B

About the role
Duties and Responsibilities of the Role:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the bar, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, and managing bar set-ups.
Recruit, train, and supervise bar staff, including bartenders, barbacks, and servers. Provide guidance, support, and coaching to ensure a high level of service and professionalism.
Ensure exceptional customer service is delivered to all patrons, addressing any customer concerns or issues promptly and maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
Manage the selection and rotation of beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Monitor inventory levels, place orders with suppliers, and conduct regular stocktaking to control
costs and prevent stockouts.
Collaborate with the management team to develop and update drink menus, taking into consideration customer preferences, seasonal trends, and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain high-quality standards for beverage preparation, presentation, and service. Conduct regular taste tests and inspections to ensure consistency.
Enforce responsible alcohol service practices to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Implement safety procedures to prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment for staff and customers.
Monitor and control bar expenses, labour costs, and inventory shrinkage to achieve profitability targets. Prepare financial reports and forecasts for the management team.
Work with the marketing team to plan and execute bar promotions, events, and special offers to attract customers and increase sales.
Ensure bar equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition. Schedule regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage during peak business hours and events.
Conduct regular training sessions for bar staff to enhance their skills, knowledge of beverages, and customer service.
May need to cover Duty Manager shifts when operational/business levels require.
Requirements for the role:
Proven experience as a Bar Manager or in a similar leadership role within the hospitality industry.
Strong knowledge of beverage products, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with customers, staff, and suppliers effectively.
Ability to lead and motivate a team and foster a positive work environment.
Financial acumen to manage budgets, analyse financial data, and control costs.
Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards related to alcohol service.
Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Creative mindset for menu development and bar promotions.
Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in the hospitality industry.
