Job Summary

As an Area Sales Manager you will play a key role within the sales team working to support the company’s sales & marketing strategies.  Aligned with company goals and strategic priorities, you will focus on assigned product ranges, market segments, and customer accounts to drive revenue growth, enhance profitability, build customer loyalty, and ensure cost efficiency.  You will be responsible for selling the SAM product range to both new and existing customer bases.

About the role

Main Responsibilities of the Job

Strategic

·       Develop and implement a Regional Sales strategy for Northern Ireland with Senior Management. 

·       Set clear, measurable goals with target dates for completion for the SAM Group as required in conjunction with any relevant marketing strategies.

·       Manage existing account base minimising competitive leakage.

·       Develop new profitable business in line with appropriate business and/or operational needs.

·       Feedback market information and intelligence to the Senior Management Team, providing Customer Trading updates and information on any changes to market dynamics relevant to the SAM Group.

·       Assist and provide guidance with price lists/quotations and costing/contributions for all customers in region.

·       Ensure that customer satisfaction levels are maintained and enhanced.

·       Achieve monthly and annual sales targets whilst introducing and developing new product lines and brands to existing client base.

·       Any other duties required.

Operational

·       Support and work with customer services to ensure quotes, information, drawings, specifications etc are returned on time to the Sales Office Manager.

·       Coaching and mentoring members of the internal and external sales team.

·       Work daily with Sales Office Manager and Production to ensure any quality issues are communicated and/or resolved as and when they arise.

·       Communication of accurate sales performance and trend analysis.  Effective and timely feedback to Senior Management Team and Sales Office Manager where relevant.

·       Work closely with Operations, Technical, Marketing and other relevant partners to develop and sell new products profitably.

·       Any other duties required.

·       You must be flexible with regards your working hours and be able to travel outside of Northern Ireland if required.

Hours of work

42.5 hours per week Monday - Friday inclusive of breaks.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • 3+ years of experience in an external sales management role.
  • Experience of selling through construction industry supply chain.
  • Experience of sales negotiation
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset and a strong ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Passion for working with people.
  • A positive can-do attitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Access to a vehicle for company travel with a driving license with no more than 6 penalty points.

Desired criteria

  • Educated to 3rd level qualification.
  • 5 years’ previous sales experience.
  • Track record of territory management.
  • Experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • Experience of selling through construction industry supply chain.
  • Experience of merchandising products.
