About the role
Minimum Qualifications:
None (will be required to undergo training in Basic Food Hygiene).
General:
The Kitchen Assistant must be an experienced, mature, and reliable person who is fully competent in all aspects of kitchen work and can assist in producing a variety of menus, including catering for special dietary needs.
The Kitchen Assistant is part of the care team but does not deal directly with residents.
Duties:
Ensure the prompt preparation of all meals and beverages as required, including special diet meals and function work, and check meals issued for quality, quantity, and appearance.
Prepare special diet meals to the precise instructions of the doctor or other persons as appropriate (including Rabbi’s, Priests, etc.).
Ensure proper standards of cleanliness.
Ensure safe working procedures and safety regulations are adhered to.
Remove from use and report to the Chef any item of equipment found to be faulty.
Ensure the correct and economical use of materials and equipment and minimize wastage.
Keep kitchen equipment, crockery, and cutlery clean and ready for use, including operating the dishwasher when necessary.
Adhere to the Kitchen cleaning schedule and complete all necessary paperwork.
Assist the Chef and the Home Manager in resolving residents’ catering complaints.
Undertake any other duties as may be necessary from time to time.
Adhere to all company policies and statutory requirements of Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995.

Annual leave entitlement will be 5.6 x contracted hours.

We have various shifts available for full and part-time work across 7 days, with a requirement for weekend work.
