 About the Role:

As a Contracts Manager, you will report to the Group Estate Director to manage internal group investment projects, oversee financial control within set budgets, and support the team with your expertise in construction management. You’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Manage: Programme, schedule & supervise sub-contractors including in-house workforce; prepare and manage to meet critical dates.

  • Site Management: Conduct site safety inspections, deliver toolbox talks, and prepare risk assessments, method statements, and construction phase plans.

  • Financial Oversight: Certify sub-contractor payments, issue orders, review valuations, and ensure projects adhere to budgetary constraints.

  • Collaboration: Liaise with stakeholders, including Depot and Regional Managers, Group Estates Director, and Group Chairman, attending meetings as required.

  • Compliance: Ensure projects follow the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015, and company quality assurance procedures.

  • Documentation: Review variation quotations, record project cost, maintenance files, reports, maintaining accurate administrative records throughout the project life-cycle.

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Supervising teams on-site.

  • Raising site instructions and overseeing progress checks.

  • Preparing end-of-project reports, including final accounts and maintenance files.

  • Assisting in financial matters and ensuring projects are running efficiently.

  • Acting as the Company Safety Officer on-site, promoting a safe working environment.

 Essential Requirements

 To succeed in this role, you must have: 

  • A valid CSCS Card (black).

  • SMSTS certification.

  • A full driving licence.

  • Knowledge of groundworks and various site trades.

  • Strong IT skills and the ability to use project management software.

  • Proven ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

  • A self-motivated and organised mindset.

  • Willingness to travel and stay away from home as needed.
