To facilitate future growth plans, Tobermore is now recruiting a National Contractor Managers to join our National Contracts team who will be based within the UK.

  • What does a National Contractor Manager do?

    You will grow sales with a specific set of National Contractor accounts.   This involves building strong relationships with decision makers in the technical, commercial and estimating department of each regional office, and with group contacts, to ensure tailored solutions, design support, cost effective product options and construction support are put forward to ensure Tobermore products are chosen for each of their projects. 

    The National Contractor Manager role is blend of reacting to incoming customer needs, and also consistently identifying new business opportunities and contacts, proactively reaching out to increase Tobermore’s pipeline of business with this customer group.

About the role

Duties will include:

  • Build a trusting and professional relationship with National Contractors on your ledger. The aim is to make Tobermore the number one choice with National Contractors through strong relationships, first class customer service, unrivalled product options and design support. 

  • Meet with key contacts (both ‘in-person’ and over Microsoft Teams) as per the required frequency and KPI aligned to the role.  Key contacts include roles in Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, Design, Estimating and Sustainability. 

  • Continually identify new customers via Barbour searching, market networking, referrals, and proactively contacted to grow Tobermore’s ledger of customers.

  • Ensure that all accounts are looked after and maintained on Dynamics.

  • Demonstrate a proactive sales approach to generating new business for your specific set of National Contactor accounts through calls, meetings and overall activity.

  • Attend site to provide technical and construction support.

  • Utilise pipelines provided by National Contractor to identify opportunities for new business.  Track the activity against these pipelines, conversion and new business generated by way of reaching out to sites and contacts.

  • Promoting new services and products.  As new products are launched, proactively introduce these to all regional offices, and continually review regional office understanding of Tobermore’s range and promote unknown products.

  • Develop a set list of projects from the specific ledger of National Contractor customers.  Ensure each project data is accurate on Dynamics, and proactive action taken consistently to move that project towards a win for Tobermore..

  • Report to National Contractor Team Leader on the status of your accounts and opportunities. This will consist of Monthly Reviews and Strategic Quarterly Reviews. 

  • Hold group presentations and CPD seminars to showcase Tobermore products and the benefits of working with Tobermore. 

  • Monitoring and identifying market trends, competitors, and new opportunities. 

  • Reviewing project pipelines: 

    a)       Raising relevant projects with Supply Chain Managers/Procurement Managers/Pre-Construction contacts to see if scope for Hard Landscaping/Walling 

    b)      Updating key information on current opportunities 

  • Holding internal meetings with other departments (Specification, BD, Pricing, CRM, Civil Merchants, and Sustainability) to ensure opportunities are progressing smoothly. 

  • As requested by Line Manager, attend networking events and award ceremonies to promote the Tobermore brand. 

  • Hosting Factory Visits and other Corporate Hospitality events.

  • Feeding back National Contractor Sustainability requirements/goals to the Sustainability Governance Committee to assist with strategy. 

  • Arranging design services with the goal of confirming Tobermore specifications, breaking competitor specifications and/or securing orders. 

  • Raising quotations and following up in a timely manner to ensure excellent customer service and a Tobermore order win. 

  • Demonstrate the company values (H.E.A.R.T) in every task and colleague/customer interaction daily. 

  • Following up on complaints and queries on behalf of National Contractor. 

What you will need

Required criteria

  • • 5 GCSE’s including English & Maths A – C or equivalent
  • • Minimum 12 months experience managing National Contractor accounts.
  • • Interest in Sustainable Construction methods.
  • • Understanding of the sales process in the GB construction industry.
  • • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. • Ability to present and sell products. • Have an excellent telephone manner with objection handling skills.
  • • Be well organised, systematic & able to manage your time effectively. • Being a team player supportive and prepared to go over and above to help. • Be able to take the initiative and work independently to reach individual & team targets
  • • Goal-Oriented; Proven ability to meet targets and drive company strategy. • High level of attention to detail. • Being enthusiastic, confident and having a desire to succeed.
  • • Play an active role in team meetings. • Be able to offer improvement points and efficiencies. • Self-motivated. • Hard Working.
  • • Full & valid UK driving licence.
  • • Willingness to travel for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
  • • Suitable home office space
  • • Proven ability to meet sales targets and other performance KPIs.
  • • Proven ability to drive company strategy.

Desired criteria

  • • A-levels or equivalent
  • • Degree Qualified (Business related)
  • • Professional sales qualification
  • • Existing relationships with key contacts within National Contractor accounts.
  • • Have sold landscaping/walling products in the GB B2B market.
  • • Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and Bill of Quantities.
  • • Experience with CRM software and Microsoft 365.
  • • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitors, and relevant legislation.
