About the role
Overview
The behaviour analyst will for part of an integrated services care team which includes psychology, Positive behaviour support (PBS), the WellTree Model of Care and an outdoor adventure-based program. The Behaviour Analyst is to provide guidance, support and learning to the staff teams of Odyssey Social Care in relation to Positive Behaviour Support Planning in line with the organisations model of service delivery and care. This would involve providing guidance, support and learning in relation to day-to-day care, PBS based plans and interventions for the young people resident and the programs in place for the young people and supporting staff teams in the implementation of these.
This will involve ensuring that the staff teams are implementing interventions and programs that consider past experiences of trauma, a young person’s individual diagnosis, a young person’s psychological, cognitive and psychiatric assessments, attachment styles, and preferences. All the above are to be taken into consideration when safeguarding, supporting and encouraging the highest standard of childcare possible.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1) Writing and delivering of evidence based PBS plans and interventions to young people in the care of Odyssey Social Care, that have achievable and measurable outcomes that can be tracked over time
2) Liaising and working with key stakeholders, including the young people, as part of an integrated services team within Odyssey Social Care when requested. This includes attending meetings or providing written reports to external professionals & families when needed and approved.
3) To provide direct guidance, training, and support to the team’s relation to PBS.
4) To provide training in line with the organisations model of service delivery.
5) To collaborate with other professionals to ensure effective and comprehensive interventions.
6) Conduct functional behaviour assessments (FBA) when needed to identify functions, which includes direct observations and interviews with key stakeholders.
7) To attend management team/ cross departmental meetings and contribute to the formation of policies, care framework and strategic planning of Odyssey Social Care if required.
8) To report to the Head of Integrated Care Services and senior leadership team the outcomes of placements within Odyssey Social Care using a formulated outcome measurement reporting tool.
9) To undertake any other such duties within the competence of the post-holder, that may arise, reasonably, from time to time.
Specific Tasks Relative to the Role:
1) Develop and deliver trauma informed Behavioural Support Plans (BSP’s) for young people in our service.
2) Provide guidance to teams around placement and best practice relative to PBS.
3) Draw up BSP’s in consultation with key stakeholders.
4) Collect and analyse relevant data and ensure continuous reviews of progress and effectiveness.
5) Ensuring staff teams understand BSP’s and provide support in ensuring interventions detailed in BSP’s are evident in the childcare practice.
6) Provide training to teams in relation to PBS in line the organisations training and development plan and model of care.
7) Provide support and guidance in times of crisis. This could involve supporting and teaching staff teams on the floor through role modelling, providing insight into the emotions and experiences which are driving the young person.
8) Provide ideas around possible interventions to UM’s and teams.
9) Report on placement outcomes to Odyssey Social Care Management monthly.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
• A masters level professional qualification in PBS, ABA, Psychology or equivalent.
• Experience of working with young children who have experience trauma in their lives.
• Experience in implementing PBS based interventions.
• Knowledge of child development, trauma, social care and residential care.
• Experience in delivering training on PBS and other relevant modalities.
• Proven track record of successfully collaborating with teams and services.
• A clean driving license.
• Excellent listening, communication and motivational skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Great patience and ability to empathise.
• Ability to inspire trust and confidence in people from a wide range of backgrounds.
• Ability to explain complex issues to people with little or no specialist knowledge.
• Excellent observational skills.
• Ability to produce clear and concise written reports.
• Up to date membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g., PSI, ISBA, BCBA)
Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
• Experience at a strategic level within Health and Social Care services.
• Knowledge and experience of working with the Irish Residential Care Standards.
• A certificate of competence in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
• Qualification in, and experience of, Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) or Positive Behaviour Support.
Work Conditions
• Hybrid role with travel to Dublin office a must.
• Internal supervision and external supervision provided.
• Traveling will be a key component of this role; you will need a full clean driving license and a car in order to visit the different locations of the business.
• Working hours will mainly be Monday to Friday. Some evenings and weekend work may be required occasionally.
