Software Development Manager
We are recruiting a Software Development Manager to join our growing IT team in Esher.
The Software Development Manager will work with a small number of UK based developers and approximately 20 staff in a closely linked but external overseas software house, and will be responsible for ensuring the software development function is effective and operates efficiently as part of the new IT Operating Model.
It is expected that the Software Development Manager is an experienced developer, who is up to date on development technologies and best practices, can direct and mentor the development team and has the gravitas to challenge technical design decisions.
Key responsibilities:
Running day-to-day development with the current team
Providing line management of the local team
Owning the relationship with external development suppliers
Overseeing both day to day duties of the inhouse team and any external teams (there is one external team, but there are likely to be more)
Ensuring contracts with external development suppliers are fit for purpose
Fulfilling the SCRUM Master role where and when needed
Ensuring the output of the development resources meets the requirements of the work packages developed by the Product Management function
Monitoring quality of internal staff and external suppliers and putting in place appropriate controls
Providing calm, diplomatic direction
Supporting the CTO in supporting the new IT Operating Model
Providing an informed and experienced technical voice in discussions over subjects including but not limited to mobile development, devops pipelines, cloud architectures, website development, scalability and secure development.
This role will involve regular communication with the Group CTO, local and remote developers and suppliers, the Product Management function and the wider IT team.
About the role
We are looking for a candidate with excellent written and spoken English, who is confident in communicating in a commercial environment. We are looking for someone with around 10 years' experience in a similar role of Software Development Management.
Requirements are:
· Detailed knowledge of cloud systems (AWS/Azure)
· C# development experience
· Good understanding of mobile development frameworks
· Good understanding and experience of design patterns
· Good understanding of technical architectures (pros\cons)
· Experience running a complex, geographically dispersed development team.
· Extensive historical full stack development experience
Desirable :
Experience in Devops pipelines
Flutter Platform agnostic mobile development framework
Scrum Master qualification.
