Maintenance Assistant

We currently have an opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our award-winning team.

The successful candidate will be based in Our Lady's Care Home, Belfast.

Please note the salary advertised will be subject to skillset/experience in one or more of the following disciplines:-

1. Electrics 2. Plumbing 3. Joinery

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Line Manager at the start of each shift to review repairs that are to be prioritised and ongoing general maintenance.

  • Maintain an environment to the high standard required to include repairing furniture, painting, hanging pictures, etc.

  • Inspect all hard surfaces front and back of the building and sweep up debris, ensuring main entrances are free of leaves, etc.

  • Maintain bins and bin compounds.

  • Carry out Scheduled weekly, monthly & quarterly Compliance checks.

  • Carry out Reactive Maintenance in a timely & safe manner, prioritising tasks to ensure a safe environment for residents & staff.

  • Ensure all equipment is used correctly and safely according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Be aware of our limitations and be aware of equipment under guarantee or service contract that must be serviced/repaired by a contractor.

  • Maintain hedges, gardens, flower beds, ashtray bins, and general upkeep of the car park.

  • Carry out all tasks in compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.

  • Maintain training updates in Health & Safety and specialist Electrical Management updating.

  • Continue the company’s policy of being polite to all personnel you meet in your work.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum one year’s experience in a similar role.

  • Full driving licence and access to your car for traveling as required.

  • Be eligible to work in the UK.

  • Must have a good command of written and spoken English.

  • Ability to work set hours, flexible to meet the needs of the organisation.

Desirable Criteria:

  • General knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.

  • Previous experience of undertaking PATS testing.

  • Electrician/plumbing certificate.

  • Open to various hours and shifts for the suitable candidate.
