The Home
Slemish Nursing Home was built over 35 years ago and is located at the edge of Ballymena with a short walking distance to all the local churches and shops. Our care team has a long-standing reputation in the Ballymena area for delivering excellent Nursing Care in a homely, friendly, professional environment, led by a manager of over 20 years’ experience working within the care home. We are unconditionally dedicated to providing Palliative, End of Life, and Physical Disability Care in which we take great pride, and this is very much recognised throughout our local area. The bed capacity is currently 37 and this will extend to 63 beds on the completion of our extension next month. We believe that you will feel the warmth of a welcome from our team – to our residents, families, and friends, with our ‘Open House’ policy to ensure family and friends can visit any time and have the personal experience of a ‘feeling of home’.
The Role

The role of Wellbeing Assistant works closely with the Wellbeing Lead on providing a schedule of engaging pursuits that create a supportive environment where residents can thrive.
The Wellbeing Assistant will contribute to the planning, organising and facilitation of recreational and therapeutic activities for residents in our Homes. The Wellbeing Assistant will work closely with the care team, families, resident and external partners to develop and implement a wide range of activities that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our residents.

About the role
Main Responsibilities
Assist the Wellbeing Lead in preparing, planning and delivering group and individual recreational and occupational activities, observing, recording and reporting resident response.
Engage with residents in one-on-one or group activities, such as games, crafts, music, exercise, outings and social events based on their interest and preferences.
Assist with the setting up and organising of activity areas, including gathering supplies, arranging furniture and displaying materials.
Ensure the effective, timely and accurate updating of records, case files and computerised information systems.
Stay informed about best practices and trends in wellbeing and activities for residents.
Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager or Lead.

What you will need
Required criteria
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with a good standard of written and verbal English
- Well-developed communication, observational and active listening skills.
- Experience in related field
- The Right to Work in the UK
Desired criteria
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a regulated care or support environment
