Health Care Assistant Manager
Applications are invited for the position of Health Care Assistant Manager.

The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Manager at Esker Rí Nursing Home is required to report directly to the Nurse on Duty, Deputy Person in Charger, and Person in Charge. For all issues related to the care of individual residents the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Manager is accountable to the Person in Charge for the performance of their role.
Purpose of Post
To ensure the delivery of high-quality care through the effective management and supervision of Healthcare Assistants Supervisors, Senior Healthcare Assistants and HCAs. The HCA Manager will led the promotion of a caring environment that meets the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of residents, adhering to the principles of person-centered care. The role will also involve upholding the values of privacy, dignity, independence, and respect for all residents, thereby ensuring an excellent quality of life for each individual.
Hours – 40 hours per week , weekend and night availability

About the role
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee the daily operations of Senior Healthcare Assistants, HCA Supervisors & HCAs ensuring that all care provided is in line with individual resident care plans.
· In collaboration with the Senior Nurse Manager/DPIC/ PIC, manage staff rosters, addressing gaps, and ensuring adequate coverage for both short-term and long-term absences.
· Lead the induction process for new staff members, pairing them with experienced Healthcare Assistants, monitoring their performance, and making recommendations for further training or induction days as necessary.
· Monitor and record residents’ vital signs, including temperature, weight, and blood pressure, ensuring all data is accurately recorded and reported.
· Ensure the effective use and maintenance of healthcare equipment, conducting audits as required by the Senior Nurse.
· Oversee the nutritional intake of residents, ensuring that dietary supplements are administered as required.
· Promote and supervise the mobility of residents, ensuring that their physical abilities are maintained and enhanced wherever possible.
· Uphold resident safety through vigilant observation, accurate record-keeping, and prompt reporting of any concerns.
· Contribute to the development and maintenance of detailed resident care plans.
· Regularly Audit and schedule training, in conjunction with the DPIC & PIC, for all grades of Healthcare Assistant.
Resident Care:
· Ensure that all care provided to residents is tailored to their specific needs, as outlined in their care plans.
· Adhere to all company policies to safeguard the interests of both residents and staff.
· Participate in and support all mandatory training programs.
· Assist nursing staff in their duties, ensuring tasks are carried out competently and confidently.
· Report any changes in residents' conditions or mental states to the duty nurse immediately.
· Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
· Facilitate resident participation in activities, ensuring they are engaged in activities of their choice.
· Maintain a home-like environment, focusing on residents’ individuality, privacy, dignity, independence, and choice.
Clinical Assistance:
· Provide clinical support as needed, under the direction of the Senior Nurse.
General Responsibilities:
· Greet and assist all visitors in a friendly manner, ensuring they are directed appropriately.
· Utilize all equipment and resources efficiently to minimize waste and ensure safety.
· Participate in inspections and audits from management and regulatory bodies.
· Assist in the induction and ongoing training of staff.
Comply with any reasonable requests from management in the best interest of residents and the facility.
Risk Management
· Report Identify and report any potential hazards that could affect the safety of residents, staff, or visitors.
· Ensure all incidents, accidents, and risks are reported and managed in line with the nursing home's procedures.
· Adhere to health and safety policies, including infection prevention and control measures.
Quality Improvement
· Report any concerns about standards of care and / or service delivery to the Clinical Nurse Manager or DPIC or PIC.
· Report any concerns regarding care standards or service delivery.
Education & Training
· Attend all mandatory in-service education programmes.
. Identify any training and education needs and report same to Clinical Nurse Manager
Skills, Competencies & Knowledge
· Demonstrate knowledge of HIQA standards and national regulations for residential care services for older people.
. Demonstrate knowledge and skills for caring for older people in residential care.
Qualifications & Experience
· Proven experience in delivering care to older people.
· QQI Level 5 Healthcare or equivalent qualification.
· Previous supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
