Operations Director
£85,000 per annum – including company car and all company benefits
We are recruiting for an Operations Director who will provide strategic and operational leadership throughout the organisation while working alongside senior management and the board of directors reporting to the CEO. Coupled with RI responsibilities and proven track record of Good and above Ofsted outcomes, you will champion and support the organisations values as well as focusing on development and improvement strategies.
The successful candidate will need to have a minimum of 5 years’ experience at RI level and experience of overseeing 15 homes or more.
Who are Exceptional Care?
Exceptional Care is a therapeutic children’s service providing care and support to children and young people aged 8-17, from complex backgrounds, who display challenging behaviour and EBD. The service is an independent social care organisation with multiple residential units across the whole of the Northwest.
Exceptional Care believes that consistency in care is paramount to children/young people with complex needs, to this end we are committed to developing and maintaining good communicative relationships with the child/young person.
Exceptional Care use a systemic therapeutic approach to support the nurture and care of our children. The systemic approach is rooted in attachment theory and uses trauma informed approaches. We are currently using a comprehensive framework of assessment and outcome monitoring using the Secure Base Model.

About the role
Key role responsibilities
· Strategically developing and implementing the organisation’s growth plans.
· Collaborate effectively with all Registered Managers and the company’s RI to enhance and strengthen the functioning of the homes, ensuring they all achieve high standards and levels of care.
· Be proactive in monitoring quality of performance throughout the service, meeting the expectations of the organisation and Ofsted requirements.
· Attend Ofsted inspections to ensure Registered Managers are fully supported throughout the process.
· Develop and implement a process for quality assurance across all provisions to ultimately achieve the best possible outcomes.
· Allocated to an on call rota and provide support to senior management and managers who are in need of assistance for any out of hours issues that may arise.
· Remain flexible and available throughout the working day
· Drive quality provision through commitment to outstanding teaching and learning.
· Develop, delivering and prioritising turnaround plans for any contracts requiring performance improvement.
· Effective planning and implementation of new contracts, delivered on time and within budget.
· Lead the development and implementation of a colleague engagement strategy to ensure all delivery operations are engaged, motivated, values-driven, and ambitious to succeed within a high-performance environment.
· Drive a continuous improvement strategy to continually improve operational effectiveness, efficiency, and service modernisation.
· Implement, improve, and enforce policies and procedures that will increase the operational effectiveness of the company.
· Operating as a key leader in the business, leading by example in terms of business values and behaviour and the wider leadership team and group, to continually review, evolve and deliver business strategy.
The Person
· Proven experience managing a diverse staff team of over 150 employees.
· Have over 5 years or more experience as an RI or equivalent
· Experience of overseeing 15 homes or more
· Proven capability to lead and deliver excellence in a multi-contract, preferably multi-commissioner environment.
· Preferably qualified in recognised continuous improvement programmes/techniques.
· Demonstrable commercial capability
· Established, values-driven leader, with ability to lead, train and coach employees.
· Strongly performance focussed with a track record of proven success.
· Proven ability to analyse problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals at all levels both verbally and in writing.
· Strong commercial acumen and financial awareness with track record of business growth
· Resilient and able to work under pressure both individually and as a team.
· Flexible, agile, and proven to be able to respond to moving business demands.
· Strong evidence of working with stakeholders and partners to examine development and opportunities.
