Maintenance Operative

Duties and Responsibilities of the Role:

• Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of the facility. This may include checking electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and other essential building components.

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and carry out repairs as needed. This can involve fixing broken equipment, replacing faulty parts, and resolving issues related to the building's infrastructure.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, conducting routine safety checks, and addressing any safety hazards promptly.

• Maintain and service equipment such as power tools, machinery, and other assets used in the maintenance process.

• Assist with painting and decorating projects to maintain the aesthetic appearance of the property.

• Conduct regular inspections and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and completed tasks.

• Keep track of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring they are adequately stocked and available when needed.

• Be prepared to respond to emergency maintenance issues, such as leaks, floods, power outages, or other urgent situations.

• Work with other members of the maintenance team and interact with building occupants professionally and courteously.

• Adhere to health and safety guidelines while performing maintenance tasks, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established protocols.

• Implement preventive maintenance programs to proactively identify and address potential issues before they become significant problems.

Requirements for the role:

• Prior experience in a maintenance role, but entry-level positions may be available for those willing to learn.

• Basic knowledge of various maintenance tasks, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general repair work.

• The ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.

• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.

• Effective communication skills to report maintenance tasks, interact with team members, and provide updates to supervisors.

• Understanding of health and safety regulations related to maintenance work.

• Specific certifications or licenses, such as a driver's license or trade-specific qualifications.

• Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially in emergency situations.
