Maintenance Operative

About the role
Duties and Responsibilities of the Role:
Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of the facility. This may include checking electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and other essential building components.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and carry out repairs as needed. This can involve fixing broken equipment, replacing faulty parts, and resolving issues related to the building's infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, conducting routine safety checks, and addressing any safety hazards promptly.
Maintain and service equipment such as power tools, machinery, and other assets used in the maintenance process.
Assist with painting and decorating projects to maintain the aesthetic appearance of the property.
Conduct regular inspections and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and completed tasks.
Keep track of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring they are adequately stocked and available when needed.
Be prepared to respond to emergency maintenance issues, such as leaks, floods, power outages, or other urgent situations.
Work with other members of the maintenance team and interact with building occupants professionally and courteously.
Adhere to health and safety guidelines while performing maintenance tasks, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established protocols.
Implement preventive maintenance programs to proactively identify and address potential issues before they become significant problems.
Requirements for the role:
Prior experience in a maintenance role, but entry-level positions may be available for those willing to learn.
Basic knowledge of various maintenance tasks, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general repair work.
The ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
Effective communication skills to report maintenance tasks, interact with team members, and provide updates to supervisors.
Understanding of health and safety regulations related to maintenance work.
Specific certifications or licenses, such as a driver's license or trade-specific qualifications.
Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially in emergency situations.
