The Home
Longfield Care Home is situated in the outskirts of the Village of Eglinton and ten miles from the city of Derry. Longfield Care Home facilitates 35 General Nursing residents in the Foyle Unit & Faughan Unit, and 11 Residential Dementia residents in the Moore Suite Unit. Longfield Care Home received two awards at the 2024 Staff Nursing Awards. The Home Manager was highly commended in the Home Manger of the Year category. The second award was won by our Team Leader, she won the Care Assistant of the Year award.
The Role
You will pride yourself on providing high-quality, person-centred care to our residents, fostering a welcoming environment where residents are treated with respect and dignity, and staff feel valued and supported. As part of our frontline team, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Home, assisting with activities of daily living ensuring the wellbeing and comfort of residents. As a Care Assistant, you will also provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering meaningful relationships and promoting a sense of compassion; an advocacy for the rights and preferences of our residents.
About the role
Main Responsibilities
Assist residents with daily living activities, such as dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, helping them maintain a good quality of life.
Help residents maintain independence where possible, encouraging involvement in activities.
Assist with moving and handling residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Support the nursing and healthcare team by monitoring residents' well-being and reporting any changes in their health or behaviour.
Follow care plans tailored to individual residents' needs, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment for residents.

What you will need
Required criteria
- Right to work in the UK.
- Previous experience in Health and Social Care preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A good standard of oral and written English.
- A non-judgemental approach to others.
- Excellent communication skills with the compassion required to deliver high-quality care to our residents.
- Respectful to not only residents but the values and beliefs of other team members.
Desired criteria
- Educated to QCF/ NVQ Level 2 is desirable, but not essential.
