Trainee Accountant

What will you be doing?
In this position you will support the daily Finance and Prudential Risk operations within a small and busy department. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to be part of our continuing growth and success. This role will be a blend of office and home working.

About the role
Key Responsibilities:
This role is split across a Finance Team and Prudential Risk Team;
Financial accounting responsibilities to include:
Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
Assisting with financial analysis and budgeting process.
Assisting with treasury back-office and middle-office processes.
Assisting with preparation of regulatory returns.
Assisting with payment processing.
Prudential Risk responsibilities to include:
Providing ongoing interest rate risk and balance sheet risk analysis.
Data input and report creation using the Society’s Asset and Liability risk management system.
Assisting with the monthly hedge accounting process.
Preparing MI reports for senior management, management committees and the Board.
Assisting in the preparation of Prudential Risk Policy documents including stress testing analysis.
Other ad hoc duties as required.

What you will need
Required criteria
- • Part qualified Accountant or an Accounting graduate
- • Desire to achieve ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualifications
- • Strong data and analytical skills
- • Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and develop
- • Excellent organisational and communication skills
- • Strong attention to detail with commitment to producing accurate data and reports
- • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
Desired criteria
- • An understanding of the UK Financial Services sector
- • At least 1 years’ experience in a similar role
