About the role

Overall Responsibilities:

Take the lead in supporting team leaders and support workers in meeting the needs of vulnerable people.

  • Work with vulnerable people to support their physical, health, emotional, social, and developmental care needs, including assisting with toileting, washing, and promoting independence in these areas.

  • Work in line with regulatory requirements, London Paramount Care’s policies, and placing authority.

  • Lead in setting clear goals and targets for vulnerable people and review these regularly.

  • Implement care support plans, risk assessments, and other relevant reports/paperwork concerning vulnerable people and the home.

  • Provide essential information to colleagues, management, social workers, and professionals to contribute to the review and development of care plans.

  • Participate in and attend meetings with social workers, family members, and other professionals as required.

  • Assume the role of keyworker for specific vulnerable people within the home.

  • Actively participate in training sessions, staff meetings, and supervision sessions to enhance your skills and contribute to the team. Facilitate and deliver training to staff including complete train-the-trainer courses as required.

Home Management:

Collaborate in shaping, maintaining, and enhancing the home environment to create a nurturing and secure atmosphere.

  • Fully embody and promote London Paramount Care’s philosophy and policies.

  • Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager or Regional Operations Manager.

  • Arrange appropriate shift cover and support to ensure effective supervision of vulnerable people.

Supporting People:

Work with vulnerable people to support their physical, health, emotional, social, and developmental care needs, including assisting with toileting, washing, and promoting independence in these areas.

  • As required, give prescribed medication and first aid treatment to vulnerable people.

  • Build strong relationships with vulnerable people, fostering trust, confidence, understanding, and mutual respect.

  • Provide individualised guidance to support the personal and social growth of vulnerable people.

  • Remain attuned to the emotional needs of vulnerable people and seek appropriate support from external agencies/professionals when needed.

  • Support vulnerable people in settling into the home and transitioning out of it, ensuring their well-being.

  • Address any changes in the physical or emotional well-being of vulnerable people promptly and suitably.

  • Encourage and support independence and development, preparing meals, activities, holidays, and facilitating access to the community.

Safeguarding:

Follow London Paramount Care’s safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of all individuals.

Record Keeping, Reporting & Administration:

Accurately record and track the progress and development of vulnerable people. Contribute to reports and actively participate in reviews and care planning meetings.

  • Utilise established mechanisms to accurately record and track our vulnerable people's progress and development.

  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports pertaining to individual vulnerable people or the home. Report concerns and safeguarding matters appropriately.

  • Report accidents, unusual incidents, or matters of concern, including safeguarding matters, in accordance with London Paramount Care’s policies.

  • Maintain comprehensive casework records and participate in staff development, meetings, and training.

Staff Team Development:

Play a pivotal role in staff recruitment and retention, adhering to safer recruitment principles and promoting Equal Opportunities. Complete safer recruitment training and participate in the shortlisting and interviewing process as a panel member.

  • Cultivate a management style that balances direction and empowerment, fostering staff involvement in decision-making.

  • Ensure thorough induction and probation reviews for new staff in accordance with London Paramount Care's safer recruitment policy.

  • Facilitate regular supervision sessions and performance reviews, supporting staff development.

  • Foster a culture of motivation and high morale among the staff team.

  • Address conduct and competence issues and promote personal and professional growth.

General Duties:

Perform tasks as directed by the Registered Manager or Regional Operations Manager.

  • Serve as a driver and/or escort for vulnerable people as required.

  • Fulfil sleeping-in duties as necessary.

  • Undertake domestic tasks within the home, assisting in maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in shared areas, including bathrooms and communal spaces.

  • Make effective use of available resources both within the home and the broader community.

Person Specification:

Education & Qualifications:

  • If not already attained, by the relevant date, attain the Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care.

  • If not already attained, by the relevant date, attain the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Solid understanding of vulnerable adults or child development and children's needs.

  • Experience in working with vulnerable people in a residential setting in a supervisory role.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Computer literacy and organisational proficiency.

  • Positive relationships with colleagues and agencies.

  • Adherence to policies, procedures, and sound judgment.
