Ashdale Care provide residential homes situated in peaceful, countryside locations. We are expanding our Ashdale family and we have an exciting opportunity for a Support worker to join our fantastic team.
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Regional Manager
REPORTS TO: Home Manager/Deputy Home Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
To work as a member of a residential team to create a safe and caring environment which meets the individual and group needs of the children who live there. Residential Care Workers must practice in accordance with relevant childcare legislation, national standards, and Ashdale Care (Ireland) Ltd Policies and Procedures.

No two days are the same here in Ashdale Care, this job description is designed to be flexible and adaptable, providing guiding principles for the post holder's work rather than strict limitations. It will undergo periodic review to ensure alignment with evolving organisational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Cultivate genuine and caring connections with the young people, always interact with the young people and their families with dignity and respect, promoting a culture of unconditional positive regard.
Assist in daily care and supervision, including housework, cooking, and personal care.
Supervise and purchase clothing, care for furnishings, and undertake household duties.
Accompany children to various activities and outings including places of worship.
Promote a healthy lifestyle and contribute to the young people's development.
Assist in the facilitation of personal education plans and organize recreational activities.
Collaborate with support networks, including social workers and educators, guardians and family members.
Encourage social development by facilitating involvement in the local community and outside activities.
Be sensitive to individual needs, including race, culture, and religion.
Provide emotional support during difficult or stressful times.
Follow management guidance and participate in team meetings.
Maintain records particularly those detailing observations and/or assessment of the children in line with statutory requirements and Ashdale Care (Ireland) policies and procedures.
Collaborate effectively within a team, engaging in regular communication through daily handovers, team meetings, and various reviews and planning sessions. Give and receive feedback on performance with colleagues and managers.
Ensure safety and participate in training and supervision.
To maintain confidentiality in respect of staff and children/young people always.

What you will need
Required criteria
- Level 6 Qualification in a Relevant Discipline
- Ability to work in regulated activity, care for and supervise young persons
- Flexible – willing and able to adapt to changing circumstances, shift patterns and expectations
- Full clean driving license
