Team Leader - Learning Disability

For this role you must be fully flexible Monday to Sunday. You will be allocated shifts on a rotational basis. You must be able to work a combination of 8am -8pm, 8am -2pm and 2pm -8pm. 

You will not be able to provide us with your availability and we cannot allocate you preferred shifts. Please consider this carefully before applying

The Home

Braefield Court is located in the idyllic village of Connor; it is a newly built facility which opened its doors in November 2022. The service consists of 7 bedrooms, it has really been built with our residents at the heart of it, and specifically tailored to meet the needs of adults living with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Complex Needs. Our residents have the opportunity to access local areas for horse riding, cycling, cinema, eateries, all with staff support 24 hours per day. Braefield Court’s team won the Innovative Practice Award at the Independent Health and Care Providers Awards, which was not only a triumph for the team, but an underpinning of how initiative and commitment within the team and to our residents has made an incredible difference to people’s lives.

 The Role

In our Learning Disability services, the role of a Team Leader is indispensable. The Team Leader is a guiding force behind a compassionate and dedicated care team, ensuring that our residents receive the highest level of care and support with a positive behaviour, person centred approach.

The Team Leader leads by example, promoting a culture of respect and inclusion where each resident is valued as an individual with unique needs and preferences.

Leading the care team, they provide support, empowering the team to deliver person-centred care that promotes independence, choice and dignity. Through their leadership, they not only enhance the well-being of residents but create a positive and nurturing environment where both residents and team members can thrive.

About the role

Main Responsibilities

  • Build a positive and supportive rapport with residents, putting their rights, dignity and choice at the centre of all care delivery.

  • Plan and implement with the senior team, individual programmes of care.

  • Work with the care team to meet the daily care needs of residents, providing a high standard of care.

  • Oversee the Care Assistants ensuring care is provided in a safe environment through participation in learning and development programmes.  Examples of this are, Safety Intervention Training, Understanding and Implementing Positive Behaviour Support, Implementing Active Support, Reflective Practice Sessions and Understanding your role in Safeguarding.

  • Understanding of individual risk assessment management plans and how to ensure these are implemented safely and with a person’s human rights at the centre.

  • Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as by the designated manager.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • QCF Level 3 or above and/or equivalent in Health and Social care
  • The Right to Work in the UK
  • A good standard of written and oral English
  • Previous experience working in a care or support environment for people with learning disability and mental health
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a regulated care or support environment

Desired criteria

  • Previous experience supervising staff/ team
