Shunter Operator
The Despatch Shunter Operator will carry out trained yard vehicle shunting tasks via verbal instructions from Despatch shift manager, operations staff and Team leaders. Other Duties will be to supply a current list of fridge trailer units at the start of each shift to the operations Management and staff and set all fridge units to a set temperature. You are required to be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff members employed within the company and visiting haulage drivers in a pleasant and Courteous manner at all times.
Carry out a pre-use check on the “yard tractor shunter unit” using the daily shunter check sheet and report any faults immediately to Operations or Despatch managers
· Provide a full trailer list for all fridge units on site to the operations managers and staff at the start of each day and update the list throughout the working day
· Report to despatch or operations manager and operations staff regarding damage to any vehicles and trailers on site immediately
· Liaise with Operation Staff, Despatch Management or Team Leaders on what haulier’s trailer is to be docked onto a nominated bay and update the white bay boards in the operations office with the relevant haulier details in accordance with training
