Generator Service Engineer

Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking Service Engineers to uphold the operational functionality and presentation of Wernick Power Solutions (WPS) equipment, including generators, diesel tanks, distribution systems, cabling, and associated ancillaries. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will conduct routine inspections, testing, servicing, attend breakdowns and repairs, and perform installation and commissioning tasks while maintaining our high standards of customer service, safety, and quality.
Please note, you will be required to be on call for 1 week out of 4 - this is on a rota basis and you will receive additional pay for being on call and paid for any call outs you do.
About the role
Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to and promote SHEQ group standards.
Achieve optimum, yet safe productivity levels with designated workload.
Ensure all transactional elements of the role are managed effectively, such as breakdowns, services, PDI’s, determining damage, and times sheets.
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
Provide Safety Observations for any unsafe practice in the depot or on a customer site.
Ensure overdue servicing is kept below 6% of total fleet in your designated area.
Have all training and competencies updated via the PDP skills matrix.
Provide support outside normal job role as and when required for the Depot and Service Manager.
Ensure the company vehicle is kept in good condition and stocked with appropriate tools/oils/consumables/safety equipment.
Seek time to self-develop (relevant to role) via training platforms, online learning hubs and structured training sessions.
Provide support for colleagues as and when required and/or when you deem necessary.
Ensure depot and engineering standards
Essential Criteria:
Skills and experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines relevant to the scope of equipment involved in the role.
Adequate skills for performing competent maintenance routines, whether in field service or depot-based roles.
In-depth skills for competent fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair, and testing of the defined equipment type, for repair roles.
Experience in working with generator engines is essential; applications without this experience will not be considered.
Desirable Criteria:
Hold a C and G, NVQ, or other recognized professional or vocational qualifications in the relevant technical discipline.
In-depth experience in multiple technical disciplines, such as mechanical and electrical.
Hands-on experience in service, maintenance, installation, and repair of diesel-driven generators.

Required criteria
- Generally, skills and experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines which are relevant to the scope of equipment types involved in the role
- For servicing and maintenance roles, (whether field service or depot based) skills must be adequate to reliably perform or quickly develop reliable performance of competent maintenance routines.
- For repair role skills must be in depth, sufficient for competent fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair and testing of the defined equipment type.
- Experience in working with generator engines is an essential criteria and applications without the above essentials will not be considered
- Clean and tidy appearance is essential as you will be meeting our customers as is a full driving license as travel will be an essential part of the job.
