About the role

Key Responsibilities

The following list constitutes the key tasks and duties of your post upon which your job performance will be assessed. Tasks are not in any particular order, therefore the sequence which they appear should not be interpreted as indicating priority or relative importance:

  • Plan load activity based on priorities (orders, location, weight).

  • Schedule deliveries based on sales orders.

  • Plan each job in in the most efficient and viable way possible, which minimises empty running and maximises revenue.

  • Liaise with and support the Transport Planning Manager and the greater planning team in their duties.

  • Report and deal with issues prior to them impacting on customer service.

  • Manage the activities of hauliers to ensure delivery times are achieved.

  • Work closely with the Customer Relationship Team and Sales Departments to ensure efficient communication of sales orders and customer focused approach.

  • Work closely with Production and Loading Departments to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of product.

  • Manage resolution of customer delivery enquiries.

  • Comply with Driver regulations at all times.

  • Build long lasting relationships with our hauliers and purchasing customers.

  • Communicate with our hauliers and customers via phone calls, emails, video calls or WhatsApp.

  • Ensure all communication with hauliers and customers is professional and of a high standard all of the time.

  • Follow the company’s internal standards and values as agreed.

  • Ensure you build great relationships with your team and be an important team player.

  • Maximise vehicle space and weight capacity on every occasion.

  • Assist team by taking telephone calls.

  • Participate in daily transport update meetings.

  • Participate in meetings regarding key objectives and being proactive in achieving these objectives.

  • Prepare for monthly meetings with Transport Planning Manager.

  • Have a positive can-do attitude and be proactive ref CIM ideas.

  • Carry out tasks as required and deemed within your competence by your manager.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • 5 GCSE's including English & Maths A-C or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a demanding and high-pressured office.
  • Experience or have a good understanding of cost management.
  • Skills & Competencies • Proficient in the use of MS Office • Shows integrity and trust • Proactive, pragmatic • Strong analytical skills
  • • Excellent planning skills • Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships with all departments/ functions • High attention to detail
  • • Strong multi-tasking and organisational skills • Ability to work as part of a team and independently • Works well under pressure
  • • Have excellent telephone manner with objection handling skills • Being persuasive and engaging • Target Driven • Solution focused

Desired criteria

  • A-levels or equivalent

  • Experience working in a Transport office • Experience in Irish Sea & Regional deliveries
  • Working experience in interacting & managing delivery drivers • Experience in the use of planning software
  • Experience in scheduling • Previous order entry experience
  • Full Valid UK Driving Licence
