Business Manager – Retaining Walls & Facing Brick Products (North England)

We are now recruiting for a Business Manager - Retaining Walls & Facing Brick Products (North England).

The role will mainly focus on maximising SRW sales, and building the customer base and sales revenue achieved through the various sectors and industries, with a clear focus on Housebuilding but with other involvement with the Specification team on areas such as Infrastructure and Industrial construction. A secondary focus will look at building facing brick sales in GB where relevant, and build up market information on this product in the immediate term.

About the role

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop & promote sales of AG’s Segmental Retaining Wall & Facing Brick products across the North of England.

  2. Liaise with key supply chain partners and co-ordinate the best and most cost effective customer service offer for AG'S SRW and facing bricks product range.

  3. Work with the Head of Specifications for GB and Ireland and the Specification team to look at solutions for complex or any complicated engineering related projects. The Specification team will lead such opportunities and take responsibility for more complex engineering related projects.

  4. Focus on early stage engagement through collaborating with customers at the design / specification stages

  5. Develop and negotiate specification opportunities with housebuilders / Ground workers to drive product growth & AG awareness in association with the specification team & regional sales managers.

  6. Develop and negotiate specification break opportunities with housebuilders, brickwork contractors and Ground workers to drive product growth.

  7. Identify key decision makers, build strong relationships, selling value, our service and our expertise

  8. In tandem with, RSM & Specification team deliver impactful CPD presentations to raise awareness of company products and services for both SRW & Facing Brick.

  9. Participate in marketing strategy by researching and identifying new areas to develop our product offering.

  10. Participate in technical & research and development strategy by identifying new areas to develop to our customers needs.

  11. Maximise machine install clamp sales in the GB market place.

  12. Personally deal with and resolve any customer complaints / issues relating to Facing Brick and SRW where appropriate

  13. Have a clear understanding of current & future market trends, industry and competitor developments

  14. Maintain collaborative working practices, developing good rapport and relationships with all internal stakeholders. Work closely with representatives of other product lines to leverage our scale and capitalise on all selling opportunities for a project

  15. To organise corporate hospitality events with Key decision makers / prospective customers

  16. Provide support to regional Groundwork and Housebuilding Contractors as required

  17. Encourage regional sales managers / specification team to pro-actively target new customers and visits through joint call days.

  18. Review Ground work and Brickwork (sub)contractors targeted individually and by the team to ensure SRW and Facing brick sales are maximised wherever possible.

  19. Follow up on all project opportunities and customer requirements within the timeframes required.

  20. Any other duties as required and as deemed within your competence.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • • Knowledge of geographical territory
  • • Industry knowledge
  • • 3+ years experience of working in a busy sales/customer focused environment
  • • Experience of dealing with customers at the highest level
  • • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • • Previous experience of MS Word and MS Excel
  • • Secondary education including GCSE’s at Grade C and above in English & Maths.

  • • Previous knowledge and experience of Information Systems
  • • Existing relationships with a variety of key customers
  • • Comprehensive knowledge of all of AG’s paving products and their applications
  • • Knowledge of customers and potential competitors
  • • Civil Engineering Experience
  • • Knowledge of construction industry
  • • Flexible approach to work overtime when required
