Regional Sales Manager – North West England

Regional Sales Manager (North West England) focuses on securing orders for AG Paving & Building Products by meeting and influencing our targeted customer groups that include; groundworkers, tier 1 contractors, housebuilders, civil merchants / builder’s merchants. The Regional Sales Manager will work closely with the Regional Specification Manager to ensure we turn our specifications and those of our competitors into orders for AG. The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible to ensure that the overall North West regional product group sales and profitability targets are achieved and exceeded.

About the role

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

1.    Secure orders for AG Paving & Building Products at agreed profitability targets.

2.    Hold project specific meetings with the following customer groups; Groundworkers, tier 1 contractors, housebuilders & civil merchants.

3.    Manage project opportunities via CRM and ensure we have all the correct information that will enable the conversion of this project to an order for AG.

4.    Use CRM to manage and plan your weekly customer facing activity aligned to your targeted customer meeting count as agreed with your manager.

5.    Track timeframes of projects and convert specifications for AG products and overturn those of competitors working in conjunction with your specification colleagues.

6.    Enhance performance of customer accounts and develop strategies for maintaining and developing relationships with all key decision-makers across our customer groups.

7.   Identify potential customer accounts either not trading with AG or not trading to full customer potential and deliver plans for winning the business.

8.  To work as an effective member of the external sales team for AG

9.  To work effectively with all other functions of the business including internal sales, credit control and despatch to ensure the highest level of customer service.

10.  To work closely on core product sales with other members of the team to ensure sales are maximised wherever possible.

11.  To accurately forecast customer demand and requirements to enable effective operations planning

12.  To accurately feed into the business accurate and up to date customer product requirement programme details.

13.  To positively influence customers’ perceptions of AG and promote the company as being the supplier of choice for concrete Paving products.

14.  To act as an ambassador for AG and promote the company’s values at all times.

15 . Carry out other duties as required by management and within skills capabilities.

16. Promote initiatives to the marketing team to support your regional activities.

17. Carry out other duties as required by management that are within skills capabilities.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • 5 GCSE's to include English & Maths A-C or equivalent
  • Minimum of 12 months customer service experience
  • Confident to work independently or as part of a team
  • Full and clean driving licence
  • Can travel throughout GB as and when required with occasional overnight stays
  • Previous experience of MS word and MS excel
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of geographical territory
  • Experience of dealing with customers at the highest level

Desired criteria

  • Construction industry knowledge
  • A levels or equivalent
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of customers and potential competitors
  • Previous knowledge and experience of Information Systems
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all of AG’s paving products and their applications
  • Existing relationships with a variety of key customers
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems
