About the role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Design, Manufacturing and Production Engineer (R&D). The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing prototyping and development activities for new and existing product lines, daily production support and liaising with customers and suppliers to assist with both daily production and development activities.

As a Design and manufacturing engineer you will be responsible for the development of new and existing products from concept to market ready. This position will involve working closely with engineers and the wider manufacturing team in a hands-on environment. In this role you will support production by producing technical drawings, developing processes, ensuring designs meet industry standards and assist in the manufacture of prototypes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting production with drawing and planning of CAD and CAM files for new and existing products.

  • Developing and testing products for a range of applications including fire safety, security, reliability and ease of manufacture and maintenance

  • Development of standard operating procedures for production operators and leading changes in the manufacturing environment using LEAN thinking

  • Updating parametric designs of new and existing product lines to ensure reliable deployment of CAD models

  • Sourcing of components and materials for new and existing products

  • Maintaining and updating project administration and BOMS for product lines

  • Working with and assisting production operators with product updates

  • Producing technical drawings of products and parts for suppliers and customers

What you will need

Required criteria

  • Educated to Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or similar field with experience in CAD, CAM, product design, stress analysis
  • A minimum of 1 years Line management experience
  • 2 years’ experience in design engineering role
  • Proficiency in Solidedge and Lantek or similar CAD/2D CAM programs
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.

Desired criteria

  • Experience in automation and robotics.
  • Skilled in sheet metal folding and CNC punch CAM and operation.
  • Experience in parametric design using Solidedge
  • Hands on experience in manufacturing environments
