Project Controller

Wernick Refurbished Buildings, part of The Wernick Group which is the UK's largest and longest standing National provider of permanent and temporary modular buildings and site accommodation, is looking for a talented individual to join their team.

The purpose of the Project Controller (with site experience) is to coordinate and manage all aspects of each cabin and modular projects in a consistent and timely manner and to ensure the project costs are carefully managed and profit on all operations are maximized.

Some site Supervision/Management will be required as and when the business dictates. This will be organised through and by the Head of Projects. Some working away from home will be required.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up the project administration files – paper and electronic.

  • Populate the above in a timely, consistent, and accurate manor.

  • To take part in a detailed handover from sales.

  • To ensure pre-start project meetings are held with “sales” and “production”.

  • To ensure that all project costs and revenues are carefully managed and recorded from start to finish.

  • To ensure that project variations, amendments and extras are managed, and the details communicated efficiently with the relevant parties – the Project Costing Sheet must be updated.

  • To maximize WRB profit on all aspects of all projects by ensuring we have a “buying policy” for all key price tag items.

  • To ensure each Project Costing Sheet is kept accurate at all times, in conjunction with the Office Manager

  • To clarify, confirm and agree the exact building specification and scope of extra works, particularly groundworks, directly with the client, on every project.

  • To aid the site managers in handing over the projects snag free.

  • To attend internal and external meetings as necessary.

  • To maintain effective communication with colleagues.

  • To ensure all projects are thoroughly planned in advance of site works and all necessary paperwork including Health and Safety documentation, RAMS, Lift Plans, Health and Safety Files are submitted in advance or as necessary, under the guidance of the Head of Projects.

  • To ensure that all project specific documentation is completed and issued to the clients in a timely manner, including the completed O&M Manual.

  • To ensure payments are received to schedule and ahead of delivery to site.

  • To ensure signed quality control check sheets are received from the factory, prior to delivery of every project.

  • To liaise with our design team and our key suppliers to ensure all drawings are completed as necessary.

  • To ensure all drawings for layout, electrical specification, aircon, foundations and plumbing are signed off by the client ahead of issue to our production team.

  • To manage changes to all the above through the business.

  • To ensure smooth handover of all project information to the site team/ site supervisors.

  • This role is primarily OFFICE BASED – all site activity needs careful planning and agreement with The Head Of Projects.  Whilst impossible to define time in the office and time out due to the demands of the business, a broad estimation would be 70% office based – 30% out on sites.

Person specification (distinct advantage)

  • To hold the A61 Appointed Person CPCS qualification. Planning and coordinating lifting operations.

  • SMSTS, as there will be a requirement for the running of site operations when necessary

  • First Aid

  • CSCS or CPCS

  • A good understanding of off-site construction, in the modular building industry in particular
