Job Summary:  The HR Manager will be responsible for the overall HR Operational Generalist remit, providing advice and guidance across a range of HR responsibilities, including recruitment & selection, absence management, performance management & employee relations. The HR Manager is responsible for ensuring the organisation is legally compliant across all employment legislation. They will work alongside the Head of People in the delivery of the People Strategy.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

People Strategy

  • Support with the delivery of the People strategy working closely alongside the Head of People to ensure successful implementation.

  • Support the HR team to create and deliver processes to ensure a high-performance workplace.

  • Encourage continuous improvement towards our people practices and initiatives.

People Management

  • Manage the HR team to ensure that you are delivering a first-class service.

  • Direct responsibility for HR Team.

  • Carry out monthly 1:1 meeting with the team.

  • Provide coaching and support to the team where necessary.

  • Ensure HR team standards & processes are adhered to.

  • Coordinate, alongside the People Development Team, the learning and development opportunities of the HR team members.

Absence Management

  • Manage short- and long-term absences in line with procedures.

  • Oversee implementation of our absence management policy and trigger procedure.

  • Advise where necessary if the company needs to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to support employees who have a disability or health condition.

  • Work closely alongside our Health, Safety & Environmental Manager and Occupational Health team in relation to short-term and long-term absence management.

  • Report on absence monthly figures by department and in line with KPI’s.

Performance Management

  • Manage and provide support on the formal stages of performance management.

  • Liaise with the People Development Team where further action is needed.

Employee Relations

  • Ensure employees are managed consistently and fairly across the company, providing necessary recommendations and best practice to ensure high levels of employee satisfaction are maintained.

  • Provide support for managers in relation to employee relations issues such as Flexible working, grievances, disciplinaries and other performance related matters to minimise risk to the business.

  • Support with the development of the HR team members on enhancing employee relation skills.

  • Oversee documentation for employment relations cases up to and including tribunal cases.

  • Participate on employee relation panels to support managers.

  • Identify areas for training and develop and implement the appropriate training to address skills gap for management.

Recruitment and Selection

  • Establish a recruitment process that aligns to our employer brand and culture.

  • Ensure our recruitment process provides an excellent candidate journey which is reflective of our brand and culture.

  • Work alongside managers within each key business function to identify and plan recruitment needs and skill requirements.

  • Manage the recruitment plan and keep on schedule with company requirements.

  • Develop and monitor expenditure ensuring the resources are being appropriately utilised to ensure the delivery of organisation objectives.

  • Ensure preparation and submission of statutory reports in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Oversee careers page of website and social media pages to ensure attraction of candidates and that these sites are in line with our brand and culture.

  • Keep recruitment methods up to date and advise where necessary improvements required.

Other HR Duties

  • Responsible for Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) ensuring they are maintained and effective between departments.

  • Solid understanding of GDPR with responsibility for ensuring compliant HR policies and procedures.

  • Ensure Lean processes is embedded throughout all responsibilities listed above and continually reviewed and amended where necessary.

  • Demonstrate the company values (H.E.A.R.T) in every task and colleague/customer interaction daily.

  • Interacting on a regular basis with various key internal stakeholders at all levels, ensuring the HR service they provide genuinely adds value to the business.

  • Implement and enforce HR Policies and enforce HR policies and procedures, staying abreast of relevant employment law and regulations across all jurisdictions.

  • Policy development- ensuring the company is legally compliant across all functions.

  • Manage and maintain HR Systems.

  • Handle HR related documentation, maintaining accurate records and ensuring confidentiality.

  • Drive alignment between HR strategy and business goals.

  • Provide monthly reports on HR matters and analytics

  • Support and manage change management processes.

  • Liaising with Company's legal representatives to manage specific cases.

  • Carry out tasks as required and deemed within your competence by your manager.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Duty of care to all staff to ensure their Health and Safety in the workplace. Assist the Health & Safety Team to ensure that you compliant with all aspects of health, safety and environmental.

  • Ensure that you and others in your department are working safely.

  • Report any Health and Safety concerns raised by you or your team to your Manager and Compliance team immediately.

  • Report any accidents or near misses in your department.

  • Observe all Company regulations regarding Health and Safety at Work.

  • Observe safety requirements when driving company vehicles / for work related purposes.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • A degree in a HR or Business-Related Discipline
  • CIPD Level 7 Qualified
  • 3 years' experience in HR Manager experience
  • In depth knowledge of HR principles, practices and employment law
  • Strong HR Generalist experience
  • Strong Leadership ability
  • Proven experience in Employee Relations, Disciplinary & Grievance, Performance Management
  • Solid understanding of GDPR with responsibility for ensuring compliant HR policies and procedures
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, providing advice and support to managers at all levels
  • • Proven track record of end-to-end recruitment • Excellent time management skills • Strong decision-making skills
  • • Strong problem solving & conflict resolution skills • High attention to detail • Extremely well organised • Self-motivated
