Receptionist

Be the first face our residents and visitors see

We're a family owned and run care provider, and we're passionate about people — it's not just a motto, it's how we operate. We're looking for a Receptionist to be the welcoming face and voice of our home — the first point of contact for residents, families, visitors and team members alike. It's a role that sets the tone for someone's whole experience of us, and we're looking for someone who takes real pride in that.

Nestled in the heart of Borehamwood, Meadowhill Care Home combines modern design with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Boasting 75 private rooms and luxurious communal spaces, Meadowhill is tailored to meet the unique needs of residents in a safe and peaceful environment.

About this role

What you'll actually be doing

•      Giving residents, families and visitors a warm, professional welcome from the moment they arrive

•      Managing incoming calls and directing them to the right person

•      Answering questions and giving accurate information about the home and what we offer

•      Scheduling and coordinating appointments, tours and meetings

•      Keeping the reception area clean, organised and genuinely welcoming

•      Handling administrative tasks such as mail sorting and data entry

•      Liaising with colleagues across the home so day-to-day operations run smoothly

•      Responding calmly and effectively if something unexpected happens

Why Westgate is different

•      Family owned and operated — decisions here are made by people who know the homes, not a distant corporate structure

•      A genuine track record of promoting from within — many of our staff, including Home Managers, started in roles just like this one and grew with us; if you want a career, not just a job, we'll invest in getting you there

•      Excellent regulatory standards — our homes are currently rated Good or Outstanding, so you're joining a team that gets the fundamentals right

•      We invest in keeping good people — many of our staff have been with us for years, not just recruited and left to it

Our values

Compassionate. Committed. Collaborative. Credible.

These aren't words on a wall — they're what we expect from each other and what our residents and families experience every day.

Pay and hours

•      £12.71 - £13.30 per hour

•      37.5 hours per week, 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday

Why people stay at Westgate

•      Under-21s paid the same rate as staff 25+ — we don't do age-banded pay

•      Get paid before payday with Wagestream, plus Blue Light Card, cashback and discount schemes

•      Refer a friend, earn up to £500

•      Cycle to Work scheme, wellbeing support via The Care Workers Charity, and regular team social events

•      Recognition that isn't just words — Employee of the Month and Long Service awards

•      Support in achieving additional qualifications, including nationally recognised qualifications

•      Comprehensive induction with free training and ongoing professional development
