Healthcare Assistant
Healthcare Assistant
Make a real difference, every single day
We're a family owned and run care provider, and we're passionate about people — it's not just a motto, it's how we operate. We're hiring Care Assistants to join our team supporting elderly residents with daily life — from helping someone get ready in the morning, to sharing their favourite meal, to being a friendly, familiar face they look forward to seeing. If you're patient, caring and reliable, we'd love to hear from you — no experience necessary, full training provided.
About this role
What you'll actually be doing
• Helping residents with the everyday things — washing, dressing, eating, getting around — in a way that respects their dignity and independence
• Getting to know the people you support and their families, so care feels personal, not procedural
• Supporting mealtimes, activities, and the small daily moments that make a real difference
• Working as part of a close team who look out for each other, not just the residents
• Keeping accurate records and flagging anything that needs attention — we'll train you on this properly
Why Westgate is different
• Family owned and operated — decisions here are made by people who know the homes, not a distant corporate structure
• A genuine track record of promoting from within — many of our staff, including Home Managers, started in roles just like this one and grew with us; if you want a career, not just a job, we'll invest in getting you there
• Excellent regulatory standards — our homes are currently rated Good or Outstanding, so you're joining a team that gets the fundamentals right
• We invest in keeping good people — many of our staff have been with us for years, not just recruited and left to it
Our values
Compassionate. Committed. Collaborative. Credible.
These aren't words on a wall — they're what we expect from each other and what our residents and families experience every day.
Pay and hours
• £12.71–£12.81 per hour, plus enhanced pay for nights, weekends and bank holidays
• 39 hours per week, shifts across Monday–Sunday: Day shifts 8am–8pm, Night shifts 8pm–8am
• Under-21s paid the same rate as staff 25+ — we don't do age-banded pay
Why people stay at Westgate
• A real path forward — we support staff into nationally recognised care qualifications, including routes toward senior carer and nursing roles, not just a one-off induction
• Get paid before payday with Stream, plus Blue Light Card, cashback and discount schemes
• Refer a friend, earn up to £500
• Cycle to Work scheme, wellbeing support via The Care Workers Charity, and regular team social events
• Recognition that isn't just words — Employee of the Month and Long Service awards
