Reports to: Commissioning / Project Manager Responsible for: Supporting delivery of allocated project scopes and associated resources Location: Flexible / site-based (UK and international projects)
Role Purpose: As an HV Project Engineer within Ventus Energy you will form part of a technically strong team focused on the safe and reliable delivery of high-voltage commissioning services. You will support projects from early mobilisation through execution and close-out, working across both UK and international sites. The role centres on practical project support, technical coordination, stakeholder engagement, and the application of robust HV safety and commissioning practices on onshore and offshore renewable energy assets.
You will help ensure contracted scopes are delivered to schedule and quality expectations while actively contributing to risk control, opportunity identification, and continuous improvement of delivery processes.
About this role
Main Accountabilities
· Operate as a Senior Authorised Person under the relevant Safe Systems of Work, supporting the operational delivery of HV commissioning and associated project scopes, coordinating day-to-day activities so that client requirements and internal standards are met while maintaining high standards of health, safety and quality.
· Participate in regular progress and coordination meetings with project managers, coordinators, engineers, clients and contractors to track status, resolve issues and maintain clear communication.
· Receive and absorb full project handovers from the commercial/tendering function so that contractual deliverables and constraints are clearly understood and cascaded to the wider delivery team.
· Contribute to the development and maintenance of project schedules that remain aligned with the client’s overall programme.
· Assist in defining resource and competency requirements, supporting mobilisation of suitably qualified personnel and ensuring logistical and procurement needs are identified in good time.
· Help maintain effective control of site activities, ensuring all personnel working under the project understand their individual responsibilities.
· Review client-supplied information for completeness and clarity; raise any gaps or ambiguities promptly.
· Confirm that suitable and sufficient risk assessments and method statements are in place for all planned work.
· Support the preparation of project-specific procedures and work instructions that meet Ventus Energy, client and industry standards, interfacing directly with clients and subcontractors as required.
· Ensure safety documentation, task plans and hold/witness points are properly issued, completed and recorded, with commissioning evidence captured and stored correctly.
· Help secure adequate supervision and skilled resources to meet programme requirements.
· Ensure that any variation work is only undertaken once formal instruction has been received and is properly documented.
· Monitor progress against agreed budgets and highlight opportunities or risks that could affect commercial performance.
· Contribute to technical reports and presentations for clients or asset owners when requested.
· Actively uphold and promote Ventus Energy values, placing safety first, acting with integrity, and supporting a proactive safety culture across all activities.
· Assist with the development of junior team members and share knowledge within the wider delivery team.
· Provide practical input to bid reviews when requested, highlighting delivery risks and opportunities.
· Offer technical support to site personnel so that work is carried out in accordance with approved procedures and company standards.
· Help maximise HV network availability during the commissioning phase through careful planning and coordination.
· Travel to sites and client meetings as required to support successful project delivery.
· Work closely with the wider commissioning and project teams to apply and improve established project management processes.

What you will need
Required criteria
- Demonstrable experience supporting or delivering projects in the offshore wind or wider renewable energy sector.
- Several years’ practical experience in project delivery or coordination combined with hands-on HV engineering exposure in a project or operational setting
- Solid working knowledge of commissioning practices, procedures and project-control systems.
- Ability to produce clear technical reports and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience interfacing with clients to deliver defined scopes against schedule and budget.
- Proven ability to work with internal teams and external parties (contractors, suppliers, other disciplines).
- Familiarity with defining or reviewing technical requirements and supporting procurement activities
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
- Experience contributing to a positive site HSE culture.
- · Competent use of Microsoft Office applications and remote collaboration tools
- Self-motivated, solutions-focused and comfortable working independently or as part of a distributed team.
- Valid Driving Licence
Desired criteria
- Authorisation as Senior Authorised Person (or significant progress toward SAP status).
- Direct experience installing, operating or maintaining HV infrastructure.
- Formal project-management qualification (e.g. APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
- Experience of primary and secondary system commissioning on HV networks.
- Familiarity with common HV testing techniques (insulation resistance, continuity, TDR, VLF, etc.).
- Working knowledge of cable termination and testing processes.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
- Ability to meet GWO / offshore medical and survival training requirements.
