Full job description
The Rose Hotel is seeking a dedicated Commis Chef to join our culinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside experienced chefs, learn new techniques, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes.
Learn and develop your skills under the guidance of our experienced chefs.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety standards and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Contribute ideas to menu development and culinary innovation.
Deliver exceptional dishes that exceed guest expectations.
Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Chef.
Requirements:
A passion for food and a genuine desire to learn and grow.
Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure kitchen environment and move between the different kitchen sections.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Dedication to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality as well as minimize wastage.
Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
Previous experience working in a similar role.
Knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
Job Types: Full-time, working 5 days with 2 days off and the hotel is open all year round
Rostered to work up to a 42.5 hour working week including weekends and public holidays.
Ability to commute/relocate: Tralee, Co Kerry: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

About this role
The main duties of the role are:
1. To follow rigidly and observe all hygiene regulations and enforce HACCP
2. To prepare and produce food for the area which you are assigned and to the agreed standards in conjunction with the other chefs.
3. To minimise wastage.
4. To ensure all necessary mis-en-place are ready prior to service.
5. To follow rigidly and observe all hygiene regulations.
6. To work with your colleagues in different sections of the kitchen
7. To ensure that the guests’ needs and requirements are met.
8. To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
9. To ensure that all reasonable care is taken for the health and safety of yourself, other employees, guests and other persons on the premises.
10. To adhere to fire drills.
11. To observe all safety procedures and rules.
12. To report and where possible take action on incidents of accidents and damage.
13. To attend all training courses as notified to you by management.
14. To report for duty on time and in the correct uniform
15. To carry out any other duties as may be notified to you by management.
16. To ensure Kelsius is being updated on a regular basis.
