Maintenance Technician

Rule Purpose: Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the warehouses, offices and other areas of the business. Ensuring maintenance tasks are carried out to minimise downtime across the operational functions, preventive maintenance etc.

Accountable to: HSE/Facilities Lead

Accountable for: Company site facilities and maintenance

Key Relationships: Operations team, Head of Operations, Department Leads, People & Culture, HSE Executive, H&S Committee, Store management, on site visitors.

About the role

Responsibilities

• Performing repairs and maintenance tasks as required for warehouses, offices and stores

• Identifying and repairing faults across warehouse function on various MHE, racking, mechanical loading bays etc.

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on plant & equipment to a high standard.

• To comply with legal requirements and work policies including health and safety guidelines.

• Identify need and ordering spare parts. Manage and maintain a critical spare parts inventory.

• Complete records using maintenance management systems.

• Ad hoc project work

• Support route cause investigations for repetitive breakdowns and implement permanent solutions

• Report any areas of concern to HSE/Facilities lead and Head of Operations

• Adhere to and support company KPI’s

• Complete all relevant paperwork in a timely and concise manner

• Engaging all areas of the business to ensure clarity about availability of problematic equipment and accurate timelines for fixes, parts ETA etc.

• Supporting investigations around equipment and facilities

• Reporting damaged, faulty equipment in a timely manner

• Continually improve warehouse operations by recommending measures to improve quality of service and efficiency around equipment and facilities

• Promote and create a good positive working environment

• Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate by your lead

What you will need

Required criteria

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role Electrical engineering Level 3 or equivalent
  • Mechanical engineering Level 2 or equivalent
  • Grade C in GCSE Maths & English or equivalent
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent planning, organising and prioritising skills
  • CMMS experience
  • Able to operate outside core hours when required and travel to all S&W sites.
  • Must be flexible for working hours
  • Access to own transport

Desired criteria

  • Basic skills in Carpentry, Plumbing, and construction are also desirable
  • Health & Safety qualification
  • Willingness to undertake staff training and development as required
